At my school, the one with the dunce cap sat at the back of the classroom, to be ignored and out of sight. Perhaps we can have a debate on what is proper in such a situation. Or maybe that the humiliation of a dunce cap is a reprehensible authoritarian tool used to force abject obedience and conformity, what the right wing f*****t like.
No! It was a tool that was used in school to curb misbehavior and it was effective. Also, the Board of Education was a piece of 1 X 4 with a handle and drilled full of holes. It was also applied at the front of the classroom in front of other students. I know from my one time personal experience the effectiveness of said punishment applied by Mr. C.L. Pettypool, math teacher, Wilson Jr. High School, 7th grade, Tulsa Oklahoma. One of the few teachers I still remember. No one at the school informed my folks and you'd better believe I didn't tell them either. That was a long time before students could tell their teachers to FXXX Off under the Progressive education/indoctrination system.
