In France, it is French or not French, no hyphen: do we want that here? Can we have that here?

What I always found wonderful and exhilarating about the heart of our Republic is that no race or ethnic group can actually be pictured to represent our nation. Typical American is absurd. Yet it seems many object to such a non-picture of our citizens. They have the Right picture in mind.Trump appears to do so, as do many on the Right.

This new anti-immigration movement, starting with the Muslim ban, escalating at our Southern Border, and now including plans to Close Key Immigration Operations Abroad, is a White Nationalist dream, and segues into numerous conspiracy theories promoting these actions. Like "the one world order" by fringe and radical Christians, who also argued that department stores like Macy's and Gimbles were signs of 666 domination. Or take the bizarre belief that Soros, being apparently, by all their accounts, an omnipresent and omniscient overseer of all L*****t attacks on freedom and democracy, no matter how grand or small. (Why can't they see how foolish that is?) The word "globalism" conjures for them, without a clue of what it means, Satan himself.

The silliness of these conspiracy theories should make for a good belly-laugh...except they are serious, and dangerous. They want their specious idea of the "good old days," that almost all come from sexist and r****t ads and TV shows from the 50s and 60s. If you saw some of those ads and TV excerpts you would be appalled...or nostalgic. And that's where we are now.

I do not. My craving for another huge helping of ice cream tonight after dinner was not his fault. Hmm, well, maybe not totally. Then again, if I really think about it....

Wasn't a Muslim ban? Name one country that was not Muslim by population or government. Why not Saudi Arabia, strongly suspected (if not proven) to have assisted in hiding and financing 9/11 attackers?

"Do you believe i******s should be allowed to cross the border freely?" What a bizarre thing to ask. Of course not. Am I strongly against Trump's stymieing the process of asylum-seekers into our nation? Yes!

Unless it included all Muslim nations and individuals of Muslim faith it was not a Muslim ban...
Saudi Arabia has excellent vetting processes... Other nations do not...
I agreed with six of the original nations banned... I would have included Afghanistan... Iraq should have had allowances made for certain individuals....

I can understand the asylum seeker argument.. But I (personally) doubt that the majority are in need of asylum... Or that they would return once their nation was stable...

No clarification on the third?

Wow! Not one of those nations had ever been named or suspected of terrorism. If it was for a threat, Saudi Arabia should have topped the list. It was pure and simple plastic grandstanding by the president. His government shutdown was more a threat to national security than all those banned.

"I can understand the asylum seeker argument.. But I (personally) doubt that the majority are in need of asylum..." By international and American law asylum-seekers are to be afforded a court determination of their status, Delaying or stopping that process is criminal. The emergency at the border that Trump claims is mostly because he has stopped that due process and created a huge backup of immigrants.

I agree with you in doubting the motives of the majority of immigrants, yet only to the stipulations of an asylum-seeker. They may not be under direct mortal threat, but they are wanting to be free and out of poverty. Was that any less true of the Jews, Germans, Scandinavians, Irish, Italians, et cetera?

Not one of those countries

Seriously... Iran has never been named or suspected of terrorism

Somalia... Never... My Somalian friends have a few stories they could share...

Yemen... In the middle of a civil war.. Plenty of Terrorists from that country (Including 9/11)..

Sudan... I'll admit I haven't heard of any terrorists from there operating in America (Thank God)... But still a seriously messed up place that has poor vetting...

Syria and Iraq... Nooe... ISIS is just a gentleman's club.... No terrorisn there...

Libya... Shining example of proper vetting... Long history of non-terrorism... Right....

Saudi Arabia should not be included because the Saudi terrorists operate outside the country... I would like to see better vetting of saudis entering from other nations...

That is like saying if someone got pushed around for wearing a MAGA hat it is not about Trump.
