In honor of International Women's Day I thought that this week's definitions post would focus on defining the term "sexism"... (I am aware that the term covers both women and men... But generally it is used in reference to women...)

I am positive the vast majority of members have experienced (either personally or peripherally) sexism in some form and/or felt its influence... It is an issue that dates back to the earliest years of human history and continues to be contested to this day...

I invite my fellow members to give their personal definitions of the term "sexism"...
And (perhaps) to answer the following questions...

What actions define sexism?

Should sexism ever be tolerated?

What steps should be taken to further promote understanding of this issue?
