It's Time For People To Start Understanding Issues And Stop Arguing Rhetoric... Healthcare Is A Start

People have already made up their minds and have set the lines in a debate about universal healthcare, medicare for all. Yet how many people who have decided this is bad, horrible for our country, worse than Obamacare. It is time for people on both sides who are going to talk about this to have a solid understanding of what they are going to argue, the rhetoric of those who oppose this means nothing, it is the arguments of the for profit industries that have hundreds of billions of dollars to lose.

Obviously the first really big hurdle is the cost, and already we are seeing numbers thrown around that are scary, yet they mean nothing if you don't understand where they come from. Huge money goes into healthcare, more than any other country, and we are not getting the best in healthcare with it.

Here is a part of where the money comes from, and it's largely hidden sources.

The insurance industry
...all of the money paid into insurance companies from everyone who has healthcare, the companies who pay for their employees healthcare. All of the copays people have to pay, all of it will go directly to people's healthcare without huge amounts of it being wasted in administrative costs, huge salaries for upper end management, and profit dividends.

Hospitals
...Hospitals will see a huge difference in their business model as they lose huge percentages of their emergency care patients that are there for routine healthcare needs such as fevers and colds. These routine visits cost taxpayers thousands of dollars for each one. One non emergency visit at $10,000 pays for a hundred routine visits to a walk in clinic.
...Their administrative costs will be dramatically reduced, and so will their rate structures for a net savings to the government.
...Hospitals will see vastly lower administrative costs eliminating the for profit insurance angle. Hospitals will not shut down, doctors will not stop being doctors even if they get paid less

Drug costs
...We all know the cost of drugs has gone into a ludicrous zone. Drug prices are not based on cost to profit models, they are based on nebulous concepts of what do they do and what is that worth.
...the last 212 drugs to be approved and streamlined for approval by the FDA were developed under government subsidies, yet the industry uses research and development costs as part of the rationale for i***tically high prices and profit margins. I'm sorry, charging thousands of dollars for drugs that cost ten dollars is criminal.
...The public good of a drug needs to be as much priority as exorbitant profit margins
...the government has a right to expect the same or better prices available on a product in any other part of the world.
...patents and monopolies need to end, if another product is available for treating something the companies need to be competitive or lose out to cheaper or more effective products.
...buying competitive products so as to eliminate the competition needs to be curbed and regulated.
...paying doctors to push a product needs to stop

Done well universal healthcare will be cheaper than what we have now. Drug companies and the hospital system has a right to make money, but the way they have been allowed to take profits to ludicrous excess needs to stop.

The right has protected the industry in terms of a lack of oversight that led to the ridiculous profits. The right wing base has fed into rhetorical defenses for this. The rhetoric needs to be shut down by people who take the time to learn what the facts are, because the realities are common sense and logical. When a response to something is based on rhetoric that has no basis of facts or reality it is up to the person who isn't well informed to understand

Your comment about doctors is out of left field I know a doctor very close to me that quit and came to run this ranch rather than fool with aca .He is well off and doesn't the big bucks and didn't have any desire to fool with the regulators so he retired and he said he hasn't missed it at all

Now I read that to develop drug and get it approved cost at least 1.5 mil up to some that cost 500 mil.

Now that is a bunch of money and they only have 17 yrs to make theirs before the patent is up and everyone can play. This is called regulation and I'm sure you know what that is. Now you say patents
should end in other words they invent something and it can be stolen by anyone.

Now you say doctors will make less. Do you know a doctor going all the way to a specialty is going to pay about a million bucks for that sheep skin? Now I;m sure that 15.00 an hour will attract all the qualified people .

And this attacking the right is just plain bulls**t. And really you don't know what your talking about.
