She is a conservative but this is still interesting because this is such sloppy reporting. It makes one wonder that if the scope were broadened to other subjects just how many of these there are.

We the media have “fact-checked” President Trump like we have fact-checked no other human being on the planet—and he’s certainly given us plenty to write about. That’s probably why it’s so easy to find lists enumerating and examining his mistakes, missteps and “lies.”

But as self-appointed arbiters of t***h, we’ve largely excused our own unprecedented string of fact-challenged reporting. The t***h is, formerly well-respected, top news organizations are making repeat, unforced errors in numbers that were unheard of just a couple of years ago.

Our repeat mistakes involve declaring that Trump’s claims are “lies” when they are matters of opinion, or when the t***h between conflicting sources is unknowable; taking Trump’s statements and events out of context; reporting secondhand accounts against Trump without attribution as if they’re established fact; relying on unt***hful, conflicted sources; and presenting reporter opinions in news stories—without labeling them as opinions.

What’s worse, we defend ourselves by trying to convince the public that our mistakes are actually a virtue because we (sometimes) correct them. Or we blame Trump for why we’re getting so much wrong. It’s a little bit like a police officer taking someone to jail for DUI, then driving home drunk himself: he may be correct to arrest the suspect, but he should certainly know better than to commit the same violation.

So since nobody else has compiled an updated, extensive list of this kind, here are:

I hope people read it. It's a good example of how sloppy journalism has become - This goes way beyond Trump

Most of his lies, or at least the ones I concern myself with, they are not subject to opinion. The lies I typically focus on are those that are based on or supposed to be based on actual facts, facts are not subject to opinion. Saying "I will do great things for this country", that is subject to opinion, something like "I did not have an affair with that woman", that is NOT subject to opinion, it is either a fact or it is a lie. Too many of Trumps lies, the ones I primarily focus on, are binary in nature, they are true or false, if false, then they are a lie, these are statements that should be based on facts, all too often they are based on fallacies, misinformation, disinformation or just an outright lie deliberately told to deceive.

While lying is bad, that is not the primary reason I think he should NEVER have been elected as our president. Politicians lie, that is a fact and there is nothing we can do to avoid that fact. Most politicians tell lies that they think will garner them what they hope to achieve. They tend to try to tell lies that they hope won't be discovered that will maybe get them closer to their goals, those are understandable. Trump lies about things that are easy to discredit and serve no real purpose other than to insult our intelligence as he obviously thinks he can tell the lie and we won't know that it is a lie. Most politicians weigh the likelihood of the lie being unraveled against the potential gains and try to figure out if the hit to their credibility is worth the potential gains, Trump has no such filter. Trump basically makes us Americans look like fools, we KNOW he lies, we KNOW he is immature, we KNOW he is thin skinned and unstable, we KNOW he is a moron, we KNOW he is a narcissist, we know ALL these things and more and yet we elected him, that makes us all fools.

I am not going to defend Trump and what he's done. He's a loose cannon. I can understand why people v**ed for him - they were s**k of politics as usual and that's what Clinton represented. In addition to being a crook. Lol

This wasn't posted as a denfense of Trump. It was posted to illustrate how sloppy the media has become. I saw the thread on f**e news but what do we get from the MSM - right or left? More and more propaganda. I saw the SPLC referenced as a source but they have lost credibility as they've moved more toward activism.

Too few see it. I'm not calling the MSM f**e news but I am calling them sloppy. We don't need their opinion, bias or propaganda - we need the t***h.

While I will admit that sometimes the MSM rushes too much to get a story out before they end up being the last ones to run the story (competition, ain't it a b****), when the facts are readily available they do a fine job of getting the facts out, when the facts aren't so readily available... Case in point, The Covington high school boy and the native American, that was a rush to judgement because all they had was a video going v***l and very little time to put a story together about it before they get beat to the punch by every other news outlet. In a perfect world, they would have plenty of time to gather all the facts before "going to print" so to speak, even video footage is call a print, but in reality, the media business is a "dog eat dog" world and there is no award for last place. We the consumers in this t***saction, we are the ones that must shoulder the blame really, we demand that our "flavor of the week" tell us our news before other outlets tell our neighbors, we all want to be the first to hear the news. If our "flavor of the week" doesn't get us the latest story before our neighbors get it, we tend to consider it the weekend and pick a new "flavor".

I am not saying that we ALL are that fickle of course, just that many are and advertising is expensive, advertisers are going to favor the larger markets. If your neighbor is always telling you the latest news BEFORE you hear it from your "flavor of the week", are you not going to be tempted to try a new "flavor"? If you are ALWAYS the last to know, wouldn't you demand better from your news source?

There could be another suspect we haven't examined yet, what about the v***l video posters? Couldn't they do a bit of investigative reporting and include the names of the parties in their video in the meta-data? That might help the MSM get to the facts of the stories in time to run the story if they knew where to look for the people involved in the v***l video, it would at least give them somewhere to start. What about the people in the v***l videos? Couldn't they be aware they are being filmed and every so often during the filming they state their name and address? I know, that last one cracks me up some too.

We can't lay all the blame on the media, they are trying to keep us happy so we don't jump ship. In my opinion we are all to blame for instances like the one previously mentioned being incorrectly reported on.
