Eight Old Miss basketball players reverently took a knee during the National anthem to protest a bunch of scumbag confederate protesters outside the arena. The confederacy is a defeated enemy of the United States it’s supporters demonstrating is no different than if ISIL held a similar rally.

And the players who did this had a reason according to Breein Tyree said the protest had been largely spontaneous. “The majority of it,” he said, “was we saw one of our teammates doing it, and we just didn’t want him to be alone.” So much for protesting the pro-Confederate demonstration. Monkey see.... monkey do!

Amen to that! I do not see a correlation in disrespecting our anthem or f**g because some batch of i***ts decided to invoke their first amendment right of free speech by wearing Confederate garb. Find some other way of carrying out your bloody protest . . . . have enough Patriotism to disconnect when it comes to the utilization of disrespecting our national anthem and f**g because you have an axe to grind over something that someone else is doing! I would hope that these acts of disrespect follow these young people when they enter the labor market. Many employers in this day and age are looking at posts to social media, and news articles about prospective employees. Were I in charge of hiring I would absolutely overlook those who have shown disrespect to our national anthem and our f**g. There have to be better prospects other than these goof balls.

Respect should be earned. I do not worship idols, cloth, paper. nor people. So there, too.

Think..... how can a patch of soil that has provided our nation, and much of the world with food and security "earn" respect? This patch of soil is the birthplace of so many noble accomplishments, but it is soil.... it is the people who are united that accomplishes actions. "United under G*d, with Liberty and Justice for all."

The people, who reside in this rich and abundant place has done more for people than any other nation under G*d. We have bleed and died for human rights, not just our own. So when we pledge, we pledge a fidelity (loyalty and support, not worship) to our nation that we believe was created by G*d.

We use a rag that was sewn together as a symbol... The star is a symbol of the heavens and the divine goal to which man has aspired from time immemorial; the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light emanating from the sun... Alternating in red and white, the 13 stripes represent the 13 original colonies that joined together to declare their independence from Britain in order to establish themselves as a sovereign nation. White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice.

So, we the US Citizen hold that rag in respect, when it is flown we think about those who died.... not for a black person or white, not for an Asian or Native American... these are titles that separate us, we think about the people who died to provide the freedom for some half wit (who only knows that he and others took a knee because they did not want him to feel lonely) who does not remember the sacrifice of others that gave them a Constitutional right to act stupid and ungrateful for a nation of people who has given them so much.

So, take your knee... it is not a rag or a song your are disrespecting, but men and women who walked out of their lives one day and said, our rights are worthy of defending. They walked out to battle for those rights... they died, long forgotten by liberals and progressives who see only a rag... only hear a catchy tune..... But, for many of us.... we remember them and we respect their "last brave action."

The pro-Confederates who were on campus exercising their right to assemble (Constitutionally protected right) should have been left out of the monkey see, monkey do BS. The team just wanted to test the mettle of Kermit Davis, nothing more. He failed.... they scored a victory against him but not against the pro-Confederates who were asserting their right. And they lost... lost the respect of us who do know what that rag stands for....

They didn't think. That's why they took the knee - for purely selfish reasons.

Great post.

There was no reverence involved nor is it rational to take a knee and disrespect a country and all those who fought and died for them for a small group of protestors.

"Reverently took a knee"?? LMAO!

The confederacy (Confederate States of America) was part of the United States, not an enemy of the United States. They simply didn't agree with Lincoln's "abolition of s***ery".

I say that the NFL players that "took a knee" during televised football games are "scumbag bigot protestors", but I don't think they are enemies of the United States.

The difference is that ISIL is an enemy of the United States of America.

what were the confederates protesting about? why do people think that kneeling during the anthem is a way to protest anything? get with your rep. or and senator. walk in the streets . have rallies. I see kneeling during the anthem as disrespecting EVERY vet. be he / she black ,white , Hispanic , Asian or what ever nationality they are from . just show boats getting their moment in the spot light.

The C*******ts are also a defeated enemy of the United States, but you and your komrades in the Democratic Party have no problem trying to d**g the country into THAT particular quagmire, so what's your point?
