Bojester, all employers in North Dakota are required to have workmans comp. The total pay out there is 300,000.00 for a death paid weekly 2/3 of weekly wage. The pay out amount in your article are the one time payments and do not include the whole picture. It is not far off from the workmans comp laws here in California. And this does not include a wrongful death law suit that attorneys are waiting in line to represent. That Al Jazeera artricle is very misleading. I will not provide you with the links as I do not have the time. But you can look it up yourself, both North Dakota and California. So who are the rednecks? Are these the horrible white people? Your remarks are r****t. OSHA is a federal organization so your claim of lacking worker safety in North Dakota is bull. I am an employer here in California and the cards are stacked against us employers. So bring it on! One more thing BoJester, North Dakota is full of Norwegians and mostly farmers. They are hard working people. My family is in Williston where the drilling is going on. The new comers have changed it tremendously. Now there is traffic. So I don't agree with all that is going on there but your remarks are ignorant and shallow.

Did you notice the site that BoClown got that story from? I did and immediately after starting to read I found that Al Jazeera may well be Al Jazeera whether it has America after the name or not. Of course, Bo Clown likes to put out anything that may sound good for his left leaning crowd and he saw lots of that, especially in the OSHA part of the article.

If the repubican party and conservatives wold stop being obstructionist, the over-all economic outlook of the country could improve almost instantly.

For starters:

Ban the export of gasoline, increase the supply available, lower the price domestically and commerce would immediately increase.

Raise the minimum wage and index it to inflation.

No tax breaks for any company that keeps profits off-shore for tax avaidance

No tax breaks for any organization that is political. No tax breaks for any professional sports teams, no tax breaks for any relgious charity.

No cap on social security earnings. Lower the tax rate for both employee and employer from 12.4 to 4.5

Provide universal, single payer health insurance for everyone, eliminate insurance company middlemen, reduce the risk of bankruptcy for having a medical condition

Price controls on pharmaceuticals
