If it was my call, the Iranian leadership and Revolutionary Guard would be slapped down big time, saturation bombing of their military bases and sabotage of their nuclear research facilities and maybe the odd bomb dropped on their government buildings.
When Reagan bombed Qafhaffi's house, it worked wonders, got Muammar out of the terrorism business for good.

Most wars are started because the side that's warred upon had something the attacking side wants, and in many cases the attackers conceal their motives behind some moral issue or other.
