Something seems askew in Congress

Something seems askew in Congress. How is it that just hours before another government shut down a thousand plus page bill is presented with no time to even read it before a v**e? Who writes these bills anyway? Is it special interest groups and lobbyists in a back room?

Remember the infamous "We have to pass the bill to find out what is in it" comment regarding The Affordable Care Act, i.e. Obama Care? What about debate in Congress with elected representatives having a say and offering amendments? And how is that they propose huge comprehensive bills that are all or nothing? Why not have line item veto so the President can veto those parts that are not good for the country?

I wonder if a new member of Congress shows up on Capitol Hill and he or she is pulled into a back room and told, "You are a member of an elite group now. You must go along with wh**ever leadership proposes and you'll be set for life. We'll give you talking points to explain you v**es."

Something seems wrong with the whole process.

Congressional Democrats are like a flock of sheep. If one manages to break a hole in the fence they all pour through to acquire the ill gotten gains from the crop outside. Then of course the RINOS pour through the gap to destroy anything the Democrats missed. This how our Congress works (and doesn't work for our benefit).

Are you aware of how the tax bill went?

A comprehensive and well constructed bill should have gone through months of writing, rewriting, additions, and modifications, not to mention weeks of CBO scrutiny and scoring reports that they would modify it accordingly...months to see what is in it. The GOP intentionally withheld details and gave dems copies at the very last minute, often with notes hand written in the margins.

The immigration bill is part of border security, and should be done in stages or much more comprehensively. Shutting down government to get one thing is not part of legislating
