Women take the blame before and men after. I agree it both party's should share responsibility, however if the woman decides to keep the child after an agreement was made a man has no recourse. Courts automatically side with the mother, same as in custody cases. Men have zero rights at that point, I know many will say too bad. You should have kept it in your britches, and I agree if that happens you have no one to blame but yourself. However this doesn't provide for a healthy two parent atmosphere for the child. we need to re think how we handle parental separations and custodial responsibility. There are many men willing to stand by their children and are met with a ferocity that is detrimental to the child's development and the courts only answer is to restrict parental rights(usually the father). Courts need to look at ways to promote parent/child involvement and remove the personal conflict either parent may have, in other words stop punishing the child for our t***sgressions. It is our parental responsibility to prepare our children for adult life, which looking around today we aren't doing a very good job at. I believe parents should not be freed of responsibility by the court, just the opposite they should encourage/enforce(if necessary)proper parenting. Obviously you force people per se however there should be consequences for one or the other deliberately causing the prevent of parenting by one or the other. I've grown wearing of hearing courts saying "we don't police bad behavior" which isn't true at all. they'll police it when it cost the system money, pathetic.
