I have served as a combat Marine.. I did not get shot..

admire you a great deal for you extreme contribution.. really...

Other then that only some cash contributions..

Loads of storm relief was the last..

i do not see a wall being any help in the border security problem..

the wall near San Diego have 14 tunnels per the last article I read..

and the wall, to be at all effective will still need the constant tech and manpower we will have anyway..

Yes some still get past the wall. In San Diego, Jim Henry, assistant chief of the Border Patrol's San Diego sector says apprehensions here are down 95 percent from pre-wall numbers. Going from 100,000 a year to 5,000 a year, largely because the single strand of cable marking the border was replaced by double -- and in some places, triple -- fencing.

I think that is a good indication the wall works in San Diego!!!!

I could not possibly agree more. Now he’s calling executive order (first one) on border wall which is NOT his pet project. Obama pulled that order over and over. What’s the difference...one Progressive and one Constitutionist.

But are you disputing the DHS figures quoted in the news report? Whether those figures are quoted in a right or left wing media source; they remain the DHS figures.

Let's see how many go to jail.

do you truly think the border non wall is a national emergency?

i see nothing changed over the last several month or more..

But now we have an emergency?? WOW..

Do you think it will work for the republicans.. some do not seem to like the idea..

Maybe it's too far to the border for you to see or to hear the residents side of the story.

My employees driving our small fleet of truck have told me the complaints residents of Texas and New Mexico and eastern Arizona and other truckers at truck stops tell them.

Sometimes you can't see the forrest because the trees get in the way.

Maybe you live too far from California to hear people complain.

In this world 35 or so other nations have the same child born:citizen rule as we do..

For now that is the law of the land.. Change it? OK....

Yes, even an old geezer like me pays for the schools...

You must think this old 80 year old geezer gets out of paying property tax on 3, 070 acres of land.

I could buy a nice 3 bedroom home each year with the property tax I pay, and my county has one on the lowest property taxes in the nation.

Walls are not built to keep immigrants out, just slow them down so the border guards can get to the breached area and capture them.

Walls always worked until the President promised the conserned v**ers he would. Uild them.

If walls don't work why do most California politics and residents have them around THEIR HOMES and fenced communities?

Holding or detaining facilities qualify as jails. They are filled to capacity now.

How do you make that leap??

I have been very clear, I want border security, as much as we need.

The wall is a hopeless project, we will still need all the technology and manpower to secure that we need for the existing border fence..

the number of apprehension have been going down for near 20 years..

that supports the fact that i******s are not "pouring unimpeded over our borders"

In two years we have added 2 trillion dollars to the national debt. this by the mouth who ran on cutting it in half.. one more of his failed promises..

Given that fact, we need to watch what we spend, just as if we were family..

so it would be stupid to toss billions of dollars on an ineffective wall..

what is your opinion on trump "national emergency" tactic??
How do you make that leap?? br br I have been ver... (show quote)

I believe we do need a barrier. It would help the border patrol immensely to not have to try to find illegal border crossers HOURS later trying to get to remote parts of their patrolled area based on footage from drones etc. They could focus on breaches in a much more efficient way with a barrier. What I stated wasn't "making a leap ". Your party leader claims a barrier is an "immorality". This from the parry that supports late term a******n, but that's another subject. I do not understand or agree that securing our sovereign borders is an "immorality". Honestly, follow the money is always a good tactic. Billions and billions of dollars leave our country to go to drug lords in South America every year. Tons and tons of drugs come in. I guess I wonder who's getting the grease from the drug trade in our government. I could make an educated guess. And they're not all democrats, either.

Oh, sorry i got sidetracked and didnt respond to your question. If the Congress (again, not just democrats) was not so obstructive, the El Chapo billions could easily pay for a barrier, border patrol wages AND electronics. That being said, I agree with the President calling a national emergency, and if he can't get the caught drug lord's money he should use money earmarked for illegal drug control. This border nonsense, like so many other bizarre programs, has gone far enough and needs to be nipped in the bud.

confused this morning?

I was pretty clear.. I was talking about a past idea to privatize the post office.. USPS is anagram for United States Postal Service..

bahamer may have been talking only about taxes, but i was talking the never ending effort by some to extract the money making parts of each govt service.

I was in short talking USPS..

I like your meme. Too bad it only applies to law breakers and not americans down on their luck

If you see nothing changed from several months before Trump suggested the situation had become a national emergency to today, I suggest you take off your blindfold!

More than 100,000 illegal border crossings a month (the monthly increase is not conducive to a yearly estimate), 60% of which CBP estimates they apprehend); tens of thousands of known illegal criminals (crimes unrelated to illegal entry into our country) per year apprehended or encountered with an unknown number not caught; more than 20,000 child sex trafficking victims saved from their traffickers at the border; an unknown number of human traffic victims for labor; $60 million in currency seizures per year; OFO (at ports of entry) drug seizures including ~ 50,000 lbs cocaine-- 5,000 lbs heroin-- 300,000 lbs marijuana-- 70,000 lbs Methamphetamine-- and more than 1,000 lbs of f******l; and CBP drug seizures (between ports of entry) including ~ 6,500 lbs cocaine-- more than 500 lbs heroin-- 500,000 lbs marijuana-- 15,000 lbs Methamphetamine-- and more than 350 lbs of f******l; nearly 800 violent gang members apprehended; and thousand of i*****l a***ns die each year attempting to enter our country in border areas where no wall exists. https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/cbp-enforcement-statistics
