Hosea chapter 7

Verse 1 and 2

God’s mercy endures forever. He didn’t want to remove from their memory that they were ever His children. When idolatrous priest led gangs to rob and kill anyone that went to Jerusalem to worship the real God, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. If you read the sixth chapter of Matthew, the Sermon on the Mount is being ignored. Worship should not be public. God is moved more by an inward change of repentance than an outward show of worship.

Verse 3

The leaders and great men of Israel were glad to see Israel commit abominations. The government became corrupt and led people astray.
For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
Isaiah 9:18

Verse 4 - 8

The way to avoid sin is to avoid situations where sin can occur. If you think cheating on your spouse is a good thing, circumstances will come up in your life so that can happen. You have to live by principle. If God says don’t do it, then don’t do it, doing it will mess up your life.

Verse 9 and 10

Foreigners, who don’t have the courage to die fighting tyranny, so their kids would have better lives, want to come to America and steal the wealth our fathers died that we have. Democrats want them to vote in elections to stay in office. We actually have gay pride parades. If you are gay, what do you have to be proud of? The smell alone should be a deterrent.

Verse 11 - 14

When Menahem was king of Israel, he took money out of the pockets of the wealthy, and gave it to the king of Assyria. 2 Kings 15:20 When the wealth of a country goes to another country, it gets weaker. Later, Israel and Syria attacked Judah. Ahaz, king of Judah, called on Assyria, and not God. Assyria would take all of Israel,, and the border cities of Judah. When Assyria surrounds Jerusalem, it is made known that the Assyrians don’t see any difference between God and idols. God sends an angel who kills Assyria’s army numbering 185,000 in one night.

Verse 15 and 16

An Egyptian king, would kill Josiah, one of the better kings of Judah. The children of Jacob were slaves in Egypt. God said He would bless those that blessed him (Abraham) and curse those who cursed him. When Egypt fed the children of Jacob, Egypt prospered. After Egypt enslaved the children of Jacob, God sent ten plagues on Egypt and parted water so that the children of Jacob could walk on dry land. The Egyptian army drowned when they tried to cross.
