Beto O’Rourke is a fourth-generation Texan, born and raised in El Paso. After graduating from Columbia University, Beto worked in New York for a few years before deciding to move back to his hometown and start a small technology company. El Paso wasn’t the most likely place to start a company like this, but thanks to the work of some really talented El Pasoans, the company was a success. Over the years Stanton Street hired dozens of people in high sk**l, high-wage jobs that one might not expect to see in a border community.
Outside of work, Beto became deeply involved in the civic, business and community efforts in El Paso. He ran for El Paso City Council in 2005 and served for two terms before running for U.S. Congress in 2012, taking on an eight-term incumbent and winning. He knocked on thousands of doors and had real conversations, face-to-face, with the v**ers in El Paso.

In Congress, Beto serves on the House Committees for Armed Services and Veterans Affairs. He has made it a priority to work across the aisle to secure bipartisan support for his legislation, because Beto knows our country is at its best when we can put party aside to work together, build consensus and find common ground.

Much of Beto’s focus has been on improving the ability for veterans to get the health care — and other earned benefits — that they need. He’s also been focused on curbing the influence of corporate money in Congress. He helped introduce the “No PAC Act,” which would stop candidates for federal office from relying on PACs to bankroll their campaigns.

Visit our issues page and learn more about the many issues that make up Beto’s campaign platform.

Accountability and responsiveness are critical to excellence in public service. Beto has made it a priority to host monthly town halls in El Paso to hear directly from his constituents. For nearly five years he hasn’t missed a single one. And that’s exactly how he’s running his campaign for U.S. Senate.

Beto is traveling to every part of Texas to meet with Texans in their communities. Whether they’re Democrats, Republicans, Independents or even non-v**ers, all Texans deserve an accountable, full-time, full-service Senator who’s committed to working tirelessly for our state. Now is the time for Texas to step up and lead.

Beto and his wife, Amy, are raising their three children, Ulysses, Molly and Henry, in El Paso.

I think the only element of this that makes him a turd pile, is that he is from Texas! You sure nailed it!!!!

I noticed that people who bash Texas on OPP, are usually in hiding because they're too ashamed to admit what crap hole 'they' live in.

WOW1. You cut and pasted this right off his losing Senate campaign page! Very original. His support was mainly from California.

They did it in NV. Clarke County population fkd us. Wonder how many i******s v**ed there...

Unless our Reps stay in Vegas they have to come home and deal with us up close and personal.

I see Judicial Watch sued LA county to clean up its v**er roles. 1.5 million in one county! This is a siege folks. The Dems hold power by corruption, crime, c***ting and cronyism in their strongholds. We have to break their system and Trump has the right idea.

You folks in Texas will have to go balls to the wall to catch the bastards in e******n f***d...I think that might have been the point of the Broward exposure. We haven't heard the end of that, BTW.

Break out the cell phone cams!

Actually, they have a wall and it is very effective. I don't think Trump wants to do more wall in El Paso, but to show that the wall there is effective.

LOL! I have seen suburbs with populations of 150,000 grow to over a million and all exclusively being Hispanic and yes, illegal, in a matter of a decade. If you haven't seen an entire city over run and converted to a Spanish speaking extension of Mexico, complete with f**gs and barrio, then you can't have a clue. This has happened in dozens if not hundreds of suburbs and cities across Texas alone, not to mention the rest of the south.

San Diego/Tijuana is another good example of an effective wall.

Hugely effective! I did find it interesting that the mayor of San Diego wouldn't actually comment on the wall but simply stated that they want to maintain their good relations with the residents across their southern border. LOL!
