Hosea chapter 6

Verse 1 - 3

A Christian life is not happy. We should follow Christ. How can you lead someone to a Christ you never followed? We should endure trials and tribulations until God lifts us up. The first four events are not distinctive. They won’t have a clear beginning and end. Rain doesn’t fall in one large drop. But millions of tiny drops over a large area over a long period of time. The last three will be.distinctive They will have a clear beginning. My research shows we may be in the sixth event. The seventh is Christ returning. We don’t have much time left.

Verse 4

Israel and Judah wanted to enjoy the benefits of living Godly, without living Godly themselves. That is not how it works. If you fail all the tests, you will fail the class. If you don’t work, you won’t get paid. Eventually Israel and Judah would be removed from the map. They would lose everything they had.

Verse 5 and 6

Worship without obedience accomplishes nothing. How can you please God, if you don’t know what pleases Him and displeases Him? The only way that God’s word should be taught is chapter by chapter and verse by verse. That way we can know what is and is not a sin.

Verse 7 - 9

Israel had fallen to idolatry. In Gilead, idolatrous priests would form a gang and lie in wait for people traveling to Jerusalem to worship the true God. The people traveling would be robbed and killed by gangs led by the idolatrous priests. No wonder the entire nation of Israel forgot who they were. Is America an idolatrous nation? Six years ago American Idol was number one in it’s time slot every time it was on the air.

Verse 10 and 11

Israel and Judah would soon be removed from the map. One day, all of the children of Jacob shall return to the Middle East.
