Isaiah 45

Verse 1 - 4

At this time, the children of Jacob had split into two nations, Israel and Judah. Israel had been conquered by Assyria, and only Judah remained. Cyrus was the king of the Medes and would not be born for nearly 200 years. What happened is Judah was conquered by Babylon, the temple destroyed, the people taken to Babylon for seventy years. After seventy years, Babylon would be conquered by the Medes and Persians, and Cyrus would authorize the Jews to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple. Verse one says Cyrus will loose the loins of kings. In Daniel 5:6, before Babylon is conquered by the Medes and Persians, Belshazzar, king of Babylon, sees a hand writing on a wall. The sight scares him so much that according to Daniel 5:6, he loosed his loins. Cyrus was never a Christian.

Verse 5 and 6

Only God can predict what will happen before it happens. When prophecy is fulfilled, it becomes history. The fact that Cyrus can be proven to have existed should show that God’s word is true. But to the believer, no proof is necessary. To the non-believer, no proof is possible

Verse 7 - 8

Just like when rain falls, plants grow, when the word of God is taught, and obeyed by the listeners, the quality of the listeners lives improve.

Verse 9 and 10

Whenever you see “woe” in the bible, bad things will happen to whoever it applies to. But if it don’t apply, you can let it fly. God made us. He has every right to tell us how to live the life He gave us.
He that planted the ear, shall He not hear? He that formed the eye, shall He not see?
Psalm 94:9
We should not blame our behavior on our parents.

Verse 11 - 13

God made the heavens and the earth, and all life in both. In this dimension there is only life on earth. Cyrus won’t be born for another 200 years.. Only God can accurately predict the future.

Verse 14 - 18

God didn’t form this planet a desert wasteland, there was life on it. The first age had dinosaurs. The first age was destroyed. Those that live their lives as if they know they are accountable to God live better lives.. This will be recognized. Those who worship idols are just plain stupid. Idolatry got replaced by religion. Instead of religion equipping us to build, uplift, and encourage. We tear down, criticise, and find fault. We think we have a relationship with Christ while ignoring every sermon He preached, parable He taught, and miracle He performed.

Verse 19

God loves us. We are all sinners. Sinners in the hand of God will be forgiven. He will never leave or forsake us. He has been forgiving sins and pardoning iniquities for thousands of years.
For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men. To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth. To turn aside the right of man before the face of the most high. To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.
Lamentations 3:33 - 36

Verse 20 - 22

God is God all by Himself. He don’t need nobody else. We should worship the God that made heaven and earth. We should also do what He likes and avoid what He hates. Worship without obedience accomplishes nothing but deception. Better to obey and not worship. Best to do both.

Verse 23

God swears by Himself because He can’t swear by anything higher.This is also quoted in Romans 14:11 and Philippians 2:10 and 11.

Verse 24 and 25.

Our righteousness is like filthy rags. Isaiah 64:6 We have no righteousness outside of God. I don’t care what you have done. You still should follow Christ.
