It still is, but it's across 410 on the Medina Annex now. My class had about ten Army guys, two Navy, and one Marine and about ten Air Force. Briggs was a drug dog and was awesome. Just take him downwind of any area and he could hone in on the drugs in a couple of minutes, hardly ever worked him on a leash. We earned our money and dog biscuits. We hit all the parking lots at night and when he hit on a vehicle we gave the license plate to the investigators. During daylight, I would make the bust. Teamwork and visibility worked like a charm. Kept all the rank off my back too. I even gave my buddy on the front gate a few tips that helped get him promoted. Loved my job, loved my dog, and loved busting dopers. Now if you could just train them to detect p*******es I would die a happy man.

My Max was strictly a sentry and attack dog but back then we didn't have drug problems in the military. Worked only at night on the very dark perimeters. My face still gets wet remembering my Max. I checked on him several years after I left the K9 Corps and found out he died of heartworm. The only treatment they had back then was Bahl ointment, a shot of arsenic, which was very hard on the dogs. My Zoe is nudging me for attention. She wants her QDT - quality dad time.

I've heard of the ointment and arsenic. The cure was as bad as the disease. Give Zoe some loving then, you know how women h**e to wait.
