You reminded me of this ~
Ephesians 5:25: “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her." Genesis 2:24: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."

And is the miracle you speak of when Jesus turned the water to wine???

Marriage in my eyes is not an agreement, but a covenant....Committed to one out of choice...

At its core, marriage is not a cultural choice to keep people civilized, although society assumes that cultures that affirm marriage are far more stable than those who do not....I think thats because we were designed for marriage, and life works better when we live according to a covenant although we do swear before God those promises we make when marrying...( the agreement?) for me my commitment before God as my witness...

The true essence of marriage is within our bodies... By that I mean why is it only within the promise of “till death do us part” do we finally have the freedom to stop “performing for the person we love?” And why is there no pain like the pain of sexual betrayal and or exploitation????

These are not evolutionary qualities within humanity, are they?? To me they speak to a purpose … a plan… a story written within our bodies.... Within every one of us is a cry for intimacy, a longing to be known, and the drive to express fully the joy of love.. Love conquers all, does it not?? These urges can be squelched by fear and even rejected because of the pain we’ve experienced, but they will never completely go away..The lifeline of our mortality that succeeds well past our time here is what we passed on to our heirs.. That DNA that keeps the memory of all in our heritage strong, to include those before us...

The drama of romantic love and the fulfillment of it within marriage speak of God’s love for us. Every high and low, the pain of longing and the ecstasy of expressing love, and even the tedium of faithfulness during those not so great times are simply shadows of the universal Love taught of God for all of us....Jesus’ message was of the abundant love of God and how it was that which He wanted from us, back to Him...

When I tell you I love you, I do and with it comes the epitome of everything love is to gives us~~ each other...”Aka~~ One...

Well heck, truly sorry I started getting carried away, love does that to me...Sorry~~~
You reminded me of this ~ br Ephesians 5:25: “For ... (show quote)

It does it to all of us.
Our legacy is carried on by those who knew us. I carry many of them who went before me. Lovers, friends, relatives, and parents, all very alive as long as I am alive.

I got a little carried away on my rant against all judges. I have actually dealt with some local judges who were pretty good. I fought a traffic citation and lost, but I don't hold it against the judge. I had to testify before a judge when I went for guardianship for my Mother and I had to get a judgement against a roofer who took money and never showed up.

I enjoyed your comment on Marriage. " .The lifeline of our mortality that succeeds well past our time here is what we passed on to our heirs.. " I've thought along those lines until my little head hurt and I could not crystallize it that clearly. That is more than a pretty good way of saying it.

I need time to research France. I wish to explore Medicare because that was your first premise. Medicare for all has one major problem, which can easily be projected from Medicare today. Medicare for all will bankrupt Medicare for Seniors. Medicare was enacted in 1965 because Seniors could not afford health insurance. Their group is too expensive to insure. Medicare works by having everyone pay in during their younger years for coverage during their old age. I have paid into Medicare for 43 years. One day maybe I will be on it for perhaps 25 years. It could not afford to have me on my entire life.

Or to put it another way. Younger people subsidize the old. If the young draw out at the same time as the old, while putting in the same amount they are now the system quickly collapses. As it is the system is projected to collapse in 2026.

Of course your answer is just to raise taxes. As if that has no negative consequences.

France has a significantly smaller population than the US... They pay more per capita than the US does now... That would change significantly if the US went to a socialized medical care system....

Just the way it is.

Loving it...
The only time my clothes match is if my loving wife has laid them out for me...

I used to consult the mirror before going out, but it turned on me and now we are not on speaking terms..

I'm a redneck, so if it passes the smell test, I'm good. Unless it's a function involving my kids, then I must conform.
Even then, I wear mismatched socks in my boots just so they know who's still in charge!

Your version of conforming involves boots?

My father bought a pair of Black sweatpants for my cousins wedding about 27 years back.... My mother still complains (and thats with them being divorced for the past 26...Wonder if there was a connection)...

France's economy is in far worse shape than the US economy. Arguably high taxes to pay for Socialist freebies like healthcare are a factor. Incentives matter. Socialism tends to screw up incentives.

Agreed...
Few economies are doing as well as the US's at the moment...
Socialism is great when you can afford it...

Incentives are what leads to immigrants seeking to migrate..
One need only examine the quality of modern immigrants to determine the quality of said incentives...

I remember when my incentive to work involved putting food on the table and helping to pay for bills... It's amazing to me that as a twelve year old I worked longer hours (during weekends and holidays) than my grown cousins do now....

And the immigrants used to make us (natural born canadians) look lazy by comparison...

Sorry... I kind of carried on from another thread...

I take the path of least resistance with my kids. I raised them, and they can be savages. So, I comply. 😔😩

I will always remember the day that my daughter was going somewhere (I don't remember where) with her friend down the road, and had shorts on that were unacceptable.
I made her go put pants on, and sent them on their way.
My wife told me to call the other girls mom, and tell her to have my daughter take off her pants. Sure enough, she put pants on top of her shorty shorts, and missed the party.
Now I'm paying for it in the best way a man can hope for!
