Gun Fight Rules?
"In a gunfight, the most important rule is ... HAVE A GUN!!!"

Shouldn't that be... "In a gunfight, the most important rule is ... HAVE A LOADED GUN!!!

If a Semi Automatic... Have the loaded gun with a round in the chamber!!!

All sound advice~~~ Thank You~~~

Been certified three times, in each almost the first thing the instructor started the session with was;

If you canโ€™t shoot to k**l, leave now.. Because they will take your weapon and use it on you...

Over the last 40 plus years people have come to me for advice (because I've always competed and knew a lot) about what gun would make the best sense for self defense. I have rejected the vast majority and told them that they would not have what it takes to use it in a timely manner, meaning pull the trigger. I have spent time with others and made sure they were proficient handling them.

I was going out with a woman who was afraid the biker she had been with in the past was going to k**l her when he got out of jail (for k*****g a guy, he was in for five years). I shot a few hundred .357 rounds with her, and loaned her a Python with a four inch barrel.

She apparently listened, because when she had it pointed between his eyes he told her she didn't have the guts to pull the trigger, trigger was the last thing he ever said. I've always called that a severe miscalculation.

Once wasn't enough? Or did you just enjoy the camaraderie?

Use both eyes and aim as an extension of your finger.
Don't hesitate, worry later.

Only 5 years?? Was it a manslaughter charge??

I bet she was very Thankful you took the time to train her.. And the guy, not!!! A definate miscalculation ...

One thing I can say in all the ranges I have been to I have always had wonderful men willing to show me better technic, stance to holding my weapon.. When I first attended I honestly thought the men may resent a woman being there... To the contrary, always polite and always had good advice for me..

I had a couple take me under their wing so to speak and really coached me, teaching me plenty... Even how to take my weapon apart and clean it etc..

I remember them to this day..

Did you ever teach professionally??? With all your expierence you would be an excellent source of information !!!

You know how some states reciprocate in licenses and or concealed?? Well the three I was in Wa. State, Illinois and Cali did not so I had to get recertified in each..A pain it was but to mix it up I took an outside, survival course with moving targets, loved it but boy I felt like an incompetent for sure!! A standing still target I got good at, moving it was like being back in first grade!!! That is until I saw others making it no better...

But also, yes camaraderie, was also a part of it.. I was so ever Thankful for their help and guidance and attribute my ability to shoot as I do because they really did help me..

Sever ladies have won our open shooting contest here on the tree farm's certified shooting range. Once my Mother Nurse won 1st place in the ladies open pistol with a .380.

Now days a lady needs to know how to protect theirself. A well placed bullet is the best protection she can have.

I go to ranges still for the very reason you say, to perfect the shot..., Especially if a new weapon.. While all a gun they donโ€™t all handle the same from recoil to site to your hand holding it!!

Good for Mother Nurse..

A very true statement.. Donโ€™t want them in close range to ya!! Although I took kick boxing and self defense courses as well.. I used them as my workout routine.<<lolol....well I did..

With all the traveling I do, for work or personal and being in areas not known its a must...

You are right, all guns feel different and the recoul is different. Like they practice makes perfect.

I had to switch from my heavy. 45 to a lighter .380 agout 6 months ago. I feel stronger snd will try my .45 once again soon (when it warms up a little)๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž
