A border wall is not a magic screening device that will keep out only criminals. Further, no one is criminal until they commit a crime and we are not gifted with the ability to know who will. So, given the context, your contention is that all immigrants are to be excluded because someone was murdered by an immigrant. QED.
As for waiting, that's a red herring. Many of these people are refugees from cartel violence, intercommunal conflict and starvation. The (US sponsored) elites in Guatemala, Costa Rica and El Salvador are violently oppressive. They are in fact seeking asylum. That they do not know our laws is hardly blame worthy. You don't know our laws, and they're written your native tongue!
Even supposing a wall would be effective, what no-one is mentioning is the cost to maintain a wall. A few years out, those costs will spike and become a budgetary black hole.
