Good plan. And I don't like Spam myself. Ate a truckload of it as a kid, and the sight of it makes me gag.
We used to spread a layer of Mustard/Brown sugar on top and bake it, it was palatable, but once I left home I've managed to avoid revisiting it. My wife asked how bad is it, so I got some and prepared it the way we did as a kid, she concurred (she's a doctor) that we could go without it for the rest of my life and she wouldn't feel deprived.
