Politicians are the same everywhere. Most letters that I have written to my reps and senators are replied to with a form letter. At times, they will try to explain their views, but most come back as form letters, with the classic, “Thank you for your letter, I will keep your views in mind.”

My letters to the editor get published all the time. I'm allowed one per month, as is everyone. My letters are always followed by angry lefties with boilerplate lefty responses.
The lone right wing columnist in my local newspaper is slightly to the left of Mitt Romney. This guy advocates for the new House to successfully impeach Trump as a duty to the country.
Needless to say, I am considered a tin foil hat right wing nut job here, but I do get published without exception. And they don't edit me for content.
