You're right. When you think about it for a minute, they are benefiting individual members of Congress with taxpayer money. It is NOT for the benefit of Congress or the taxpayers, but for each individual who has something to hide. That has to be illegal. In your example, taxpayer money benefited one person only....Schitt, I mean Schiff.

You are very close to getting why it isn't okay for Putin to have anything on the president...extortion and blackmail. Anyone who knows someone has things that can cause them harm treats that person differently.
You cannot extort innocent people unless you are simply threatening them harm they are powerless to stop. Trump believed that this information, which happens to be the t***h, would hurt his e******n chances, and it might have...although his base doesn't care about the sleazy things he does.
Non disclosure agreements are not necessarily illegal, Trump wouldn't have paid if he wasn't worried about the consequences.
Trump is in trouble for reasons only he can take responsibility for. He could have simply written a personal check rather than used other sources of funding. Cohen trying to give Trump separation on the payment showed awareness of wrong doing. The sources Cohen was paid back from are iffy at best and may be part of the problem...but whether or not what Trump did here was even illegal...
He lied, he lied over and over, he lied about the lies, he lied about the things that became public knowledge. Lies are illegal and have consequences, just look at Clinton and Nixon.

It doesn't matter where the money came from the felony was the pay off not where the money came from. With Cohens documents being confiscated I'm sure Mueller has the evidence not just a Cohen allegation
