I think you are dead on spot with this. If I were to select things to accomplish they would be eliminate birthright citizenship, end the visa lottery, end chain immigration, deport all i******s, end H1 and H2 visa programs, build the wall, enact laws such that if you are foreign born you do not hold public office.

While it is prudent for any country to maintain border security and exercise appropriate control over unscheduled mass migration, Trump is using fearmongering of a whole class of people
as a way to stir antipathy to shore up his diminishing support. Difficult to ignore the parallels with 30’s demagoguery in Europe against another class of people, the Jews.
