Interesting story, it seems like it can be true ... I wonder if it will become the Dem response to the GOP Boonstra Ads?
----------------------------------------------------

“A lot of people I talk to are so misinformed about the ACA,” Angstadt said. “I was, before Bob went through all this for me. I would recommend it to anybody and, in fact, have encouraged friends, including the one guy who hauls my logs.”
….
“For me, this isn’t about politics,” he added. “I’m trying to help other people who are like me, stubborn and bullheaded, who refused to even look. From my own experience, the ACA is everything it’s supposed to be and, in fact, better than it’s made out to be.”

------------------------------------------------------
This one below really slammed the anti-Obamacare news shows...

"But what accounts for Angstadt’s resistance to Obamacare in the first place? He says that he “leans” Republican and essentially listened to what the GOP had to say about Obamacare, and not so much to what the Democrats had to say. As for his media diet, Anstadt says he goes online for some of his news, but when it comes to television, “Fox News, of course, and that’s basically what I watch on TV,” in addition to local news, he says. “I like some of those radicals” on Fox News, he says. “I like O’Reilly.”
Asked if Fox News had molded his view of Obamacare, Angstadt responded, “Yeah, yeah — they get people fired up. You know what, I really do have a different outlook on it. It’s really wrong that people are making it into a political thing. To me, it is a life-and-death thing.” Of Obamacare’s namesake, Angstadt says, “I didn’t care for Obama. I can’t say nothing bad about him now because it was his plan that probably saved my life.”

Only problem is, for every one story like this one, there are probably ten or more(probably more) of people who were hurt by the ACA.

You can't say this one incident is indicative of the benefits of Obamacare...GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK!!!

Sure, SOME people, who never had insurance, will benefit from this, but I guaranfuckingtee you, hundreds more per case, will suffer because of it, and that includes people dying because Obamacare cancelled their policies!!!!!!!

Yeah, that was the thinking months ago. But now the memo's that came out is that was hype. At least that is how main street is reading it.

The message should've been that the replacement plans to the canceled plans are more expensive for many and have coverage for things they don't need or want.

I don't see the GOP being able to peddle a repeal plan. The talk of a replacement plan was a dead end.

Looks like there will be ads showing this guy and probably a few others it helped from the dems and the GOP will have some of their own ads of stories but they won't be believed after the Boonstra fiasco.

It's too soon to see if it will be a significant main street v**er issue.

This is probably the poorest example that one could use to support the ACA. Had this man been forced to buy a plan when he felt he did not need one, his story would be entirely different. He bought because he had to and there was no other alternative . I guess if given the choice, buy or die, one would buy. What if everyone waited until they faced a similar situation prior to signing up ? That is exactly the reason people will either buy or pay a fine because this monster cannot survive without young and healthy folks paying huge premiums to support the costs of caring for the last minute buyers, and those who are subsidized and on medicaid. The ACA is ideal for people like this man. He signs up pays a premium then immediately costs the plan thousands of dollars in care. Good deal for him but not so good for those who will pay for his care. He will have received more in initial care then he can ever re-pay in premiums.
This is a flawed plan which cannot be sustained as designed. Good Luck America !!!

Fairly good point about costs but the whole point was that without the ACA or some law to prohibit the pre-existing condition exclusion, he would not have been able to buy any insurance and said he was just preparing to accept death rather than accept treatment that he couldn't afford.

The most important word in your reply is "probably" you are responding to a factual set of events with an unsupported guess based on your gut feeling.

Explain why so many people lost their insurance and had to replace it with insurance which is more expensive and requires them to carry coverage they will never use or need! This law has hurt a lot of folks. Now when the employer mandate finally kicks in next year, many more families will lose their insurance and be forced into more expensive insurance with coverage they don't need or want! Many folks have had their insurance premiums and co-payments increase up to 3 times what they had previously paid. Tell me if this is such great insurance why has Obama continued to illegally postpone the employer mandate? Now until after the e******ns! Laws are supposed to help the people they are passed for. This law has hurt many families and there will be many more families hurt after the employer mandate starts. What is so good about that?
BTW I don't watch Fox News! I found out the hard way about this law! I lost my insurance and had to replace it with insurance that was 2&1/2 times more expensive. We even have to carry maternal coverage even though there is no possible way for us to have any more kids! Again what is so great about that?

Obamacre didn't cancel their policies. They were cancelled by the insurance companies who didn't want to offer the demanded benefits. Obama wants every instance covered for ALL. If it weren't for the ACA the insurance companies would have continued their "now-illegal" practices such as not covering pre-existing ailments and cancelling their clients' policies when it begins digging into their outrangous profits.

I have a friend who was injured in a job-related accident. He was actually in surgery when the hospital was notified that the insurance company wouldn't cover the surgery and the surgeons had to put him together "fast" so he could be removed from the table. I'm truly hoping that these insurance companies will soon be out of business.

I believe that the ACA was the first step toward that goal. It would have been too much to ask the "people" to accept single payment. There was enough difficulty getting the plan through as it is. Imagine the ball the Repubs would have had with that idea with their constantly propagandizing against socialized medicine. The U.S. is the only developed power on the globe that doesn't have it.

They have faced these increases by choosing to remain with private companies instead of going with the government. It is totally political propaganda that can be blamed.

Apparently, that happened to cover the costs of those folks who weren't allowed to buy insurance because they are high insurance risks - like the guy in the article. I guess your higher premium partially paid for his new heart valve and will pay for those needing maternal care. The problem with maternal care costs is that premature births are increasing and they are very expensive: http://www.managedcaremag.com/archives/1001/1001.preterm.html

I guess it is really semantics whether the ACA canceled plans, plans were canceled to comply with the ACA or plans were replaced to comply with the ACA.

I'm sorry to hear what happened to your friend and I hope he is recovering alright.

Who do you think is covering people in the ACA? Private insurance companies! They're not government run insurance companies. Unless a person gets on Medicaid, which many do not qualify for. I've checked out policies in the ACA, they are just as expensive. There are increase in both private and ACA insurance policies. So exactly how is this propaganda?
