A QUICK VISIT NORTH
Melania Trump racked up $174,000 in hotel bills for a day trip to Toronto
By Justin Rohrlich & Heather TimmonsNovember 15, 2018
US first lady Melania Trump ran up a six-figure hotel bill for a one-day trip to Toronto last year, according to federal spending records.
Government spending data show at least six separate Toronto hotel charges ranging from just under $12,000 to nearly $49,000 for a total of roughly $174,000. She did not spend the night.
The total was roughly eight times what it cost to house the first lady’s advance team, whose $18,000 in hotel expenses were broken out separately; in addition to the hotel charges, the first lady’s trip involved $21,000 in t***sportation costs.

Reports from the press pool that accompanied Trump on her September 23, 2017, Canadian excursion showed that her schedule involved multiple hotel stops. Based on those reports, this was her itinerary for the day:
12:09 pm (Sept. 23): Arrives in Toronto. The first lady travels to a downtown Sheraton, meets with Britain’s prince Harry for 20 minutes, and then departs for the Ritz-Carlton.
4 pm: Returns to Sheraton. The first lady meets with US athletes competing in the Invictus Games (an event for disabled veterans created in 2014 by prince Harry) for 20 minutes. She delivers a speech that was one minute, 15 seconds long.
6:35 pm: Arrives at Air Canada Centre. The first lady greets prime minister Justin Trudeau and his family and watches the opening ceremony of the games from a VIP suite.

12:12 am (Sept. 24): Returns to Andrews Air Force base in Maryland.
How Trump and her staff ran up nearly $200,000 in hotel bills for a 12-hour trip is unclear (the total was nearly double the $95,050 bill for a hotel in Cairo, Egypt, where she stopped for a day last month during a trip to Africa). All six charges for the first lady’s Toronto hotel bills were paid to “miscellaneous foreign awardees” rather than a specific hotel. These links will take you to the documents for each amount, rounded here to the nearest thousand:
Hotel rooms: $35,000
Hotel rooms: $12,000

Hotel rooms: $19,000
Hotel rooms: $49,000
Hotel rooms: $43,000
Hotel rooms: $16,000

The top rate at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel is currently $574 CAD ($435) per night for a premium suite, plus $100.56 CAD in taxes for a total of $674.56 CAD:

Additional hotel charges for the FLOTUS advance team for the Toronto trip came to $18,000. Three separate t***sportation charges for the same trip came to $21,000: one for $13,000, one for $5,000 and one for $3,000.
Asked about the details of the expenses, the first lady’s office referred specific questions to the US State Department, which told us we would need to file Freedom of Information Act requests for more information. Stephanie Grisham, the first lady’s spokeswoman, also said, via email:
What I can tell you is that when the President or First Lady travels, there are people who travel ahead on the advance team to ensure safety measures, medical care, communications, motorcade needs and logistics are all in place. Mrs. Trump travels with a much smaller contingent of staff than that of her predecessors, but the entities I mentioned above are legally required for all official travel.
The previous first lady, Michelle Obama, spent $18,320 on t***sportation over 10 days in Copenhagen, Denmark, during a 2009 trip that included speeches and meetings to push for Chicago to be the site of the 2016 Olympic Games. Her two-day visit to Chengdu, China, in 2014 cost over $220,000 in hotel bills, the Weekly Standard reported then. The figure included expenses for her advance team, communications staff, and security.

No one can ever compete with Michael. Remember her plane loaded with b****s and then their limos blocking traffic in the middle of London and running tourists out of the cathedral so her friends could go through with no one interrupting their attempt at a little culture. Bah!

I wonder how much it cost to have Michelle Obama's mother live at the White House for 8 years. Oh, and how much we paid for them to travel. For example when Michelle, her mother and her daughters went to the UK in June, 2015, their flight expense alone cost taxpayers $240,495.67. That's ONE trip.

***************************************************************************
If inquiring minds want to know, they should request copies of the Secret Service charges, including room service, bar restocking and TV channel charges. It is obvious that the first lady did not incur all of those charges and it didn't seem she had a room in any of those hotels. To claim that Michelle Obama spent ten days in Copenhagen at a cost of 18,000 is ludicrous. Her staff of personal servants would have exceeded that cost, per day. The news was full of the excessive amount of costs the Obamas ran up wherever they went. A "date" night in New York allegedly cost 24,000 but the actual costs were just a tad different.

Here is a report from an individual who was part of that excursion:.

The Real Cost of Obama’s Date Night in NY

The cost of Obama’s date Night in New York in late May 2009 cost a lot more than the reported $24,000. It cost well over a million. This is arrogance at its worst, in any market.

http://www.canadafreepress.com/printpage.php

From a former Air Force Colonel….Subject: The DateFirst, let me say that I’ve moved three presidents up to now and I’ve seen incredible waste. But, the “new” guy really takes the cake. I don’t have an issue with the President promising his wife dinner and a show or that he even takes his wife out. But, when I saw the news say that the date cost $24,000, here’s what you DON’T know.

Three days before “dinner” a C-17 flew Marines and the helicopter maintenance equipment to JFK Airport . We were supposed to fly the motorcade back and go home, but the Air Force was so short of C-17’s that we were re-tasked to take the motorcade back, return to JFK and take the helicopter back to Quantico .

When we got back to JFK, while the pilot was turning the plane around to park, he noticed a rotor blade sticking out of the hangar where the helicopter was parked and informed me that either it wasn’t ready to t***sport or it was flying home. After shutting down I walked over to the hangar and to my surprise I find FIVE helicopters, not ONE.

We’re obviously not t***sporting five big helicopters. I went and talked to the Marines guarding the “fleet” and found that they were flying all five helicopters home and we were only t***sporting the Marines and the maintenance equipment. After talking to the Marine(s) in charge, I was told that the White House requested FIVE helicopters. The Marines told me that they spent all morning trying to figure out how much it cost them to come and said they figured it cost them $140,000 to stay there (I don’t know where they came up with that) and the trip’s total had to be about $1,000,000.

We heard that the President didn’t use Air Force One (the 747) so I asked if he came in on one of the 757’s. I was told that he came in on THREE Air Force Lear jets.

So, date night consisted of: 2 C-17’s flying three missions, 3 Lear jets, 5 Helicopters, P**********l Motorcade, 44 Marines, more than 20 USSS personnel on our plane. Who knows what it cost the NYPD and NY Port Authority (at the airport) in overtime.

These are the same people that chastised the automobile CEO’s for
using their aircraft. It further proves that the media only use the facts
that make the President look good and hide any facts that will detract
from his persona..

Is this the ‘change’ we expected?

Talk with friends and those who are not blinded by charisma. Many folks I know who v**ed for Obama are very disappointed and sorry they did so. The Emperor’s clothes on a grand scale. “T***sparency”? Remember, 2010 is just around the corner. All we have to do is survive long enough.

The day before “dinner” I flew the USSS and the motorcade to JFK Airport

Our crew of 5 spent two days and nights at the Hilton in Times Square . My hotel bill: $621.66 plus $64 a day in per diem. The USSS guys were at a different Hilton in NYC, so figure that cost another $14,000 (or so)plus per diem. The Marines had to have cost as much and were there four days, so figure another $55,000 plus per diem (for 44 Marines).

At the Ritz-Carlton, Toronto, standard rooms start at $679 CAD. The most expensive suite, the 2,415 square-foot Ritz-Carlton Suite, goes for $8,000 CAD per night, plus $1,401.60 CAD in taxes

You are including all costs for Melenia (secret service, t***sportation on air force one, rental cars, other security, meals, communication, prepositioning of jets and limos for security, etc; but not all costs for Michelle. As for hotel costs, when you rent a room but don't stay overnight you are charged the same as if you stayed overnight.

Here are some examples for Michelle Obama which are simply pleasure trips.
— The March 2014 trip to Key Largo during Spring Break – where the first family stayed at the exclusive Ocean Reef Club – cost the Secret Service $247,827.50; $182,120.33 for hotels and $65,707.17 in travel expenses. The total cost of that trip with previously released $885,683 in flight costs from the Air Force is $1,133,510.50.

— Michelle Obama's February 2015 Aspen vacation cost the Secret Service a total of $64,807.41; $47,109.28 for hotels, $3,559.43 in rental cars and $14,138.70 in other travel expenses. The total cost of the trip with $57,068.80 in flight costs from previously released Air Force records is $121,876.21.

— Christmas trip to Honolulu -- 17.9 hours flying at $142,380 per hour, bringing the total flight cost to $2,548,602. That is the flight cost alone!!!!

How about the time when the Obamas flew from DC to New York for the sole purpose of having dinner. It cost tax payers more than $225,000.
