The Laffer curve assumes that no tax revenue is raised at the extreme tax rates of 0% and 100%, and that there is a rate between 0% and 100% that maximizes government taxation revenue. It would appear the the 'sweet spot' is not where the tax rate was and that our current rate is more like it. Don't try to convince a politician of that though, to them taxation is a bottomless source of 'spending' money.

The more you give them, the more they will find to spend it on. There will always be a spending deficit because there will always be big government spenders. Of course, spending nearly $8 trillion on the Middle East boondoggle isn't helping.

You have it wrong as usual. You don't understand simple math. Let me explain: Deficits occur when Federal spending exceeds income, i.e. FEDERAL SPENDING exceeds TAX REVENUES.

In other words federal spending exceeded tax revenues by $669 billion.

Ergo, we have a spending problem. Our revenue was the highest EVER.
