I agree completely. As a kid growing up I never saw black people except in their cars on the highway. They were
referred to as "black clouds". When I worked in a drug store in high school people would come and ask for a pound
of "n****r toes" which I learned later were Brazil nuts. And "n****r tits", which were the vanilla cream candies. I never
thought much about it......till a colored couple came into the drug store one Sunday. They were very well dressed,
wanted something cold to drink.....I gave them our soda fountain menu and took their order. My boss came around
behind the counter and quietly told me to serve them in paper cups. I didn't. There were other customers at the tables
drinking out of glasses and I served them in glasses. I caught hell later but I reminded him that I washed all the glasses before using them again......DUH!! I thought I might get fired. That would have been okay, I'd lost all respect for my boss.

I had not seen real discrimination till I joined the Army and was stationed in the South where there were still separate
facilities for b****s. I couldn't believe the W****s Only signs. I became good friends with several black guys in my outfit.
One BIG colored sergeant was the most respected man in the outfit. I was on a pass with a colored buddy in Fort Smith, Arkansas and walking down the street, when a white person or couple would approach us, he would step off the sidewalk
into the street. We were in uniform. The second time he did it I grabbed him by the shoulder and asked him what the
hell he was doing. He just said, "Man, you're in the South." I got in his face. Said, "Yeah, and you and I are wearing
the same uniform. Don't do it again."

Traveling with my best friend and our colored buddy to a new duty station we stopped to get something to eat. Being
in the south I went in the café and asked if they served colored men. He said yeah, but he'd have to eat in the car.
That wasn't what I called being served. So I ordered for the "four" of us. After I'd paid, I took one order and dropped
the sack to the floor, stomped on it then poured the drink over it and told the guy to f*** off. It felt good.

BTW, I took a colored buddy home with me on leave and took him into the drug store and we sat at the counter and
ordered. We both got served in glass. He was a big, really good looking dude and the girls....that I'd gone to school with.....were all very anxious to meet him. And my family really liked him. I had one little niece who was intrigued
by him; he charmed her into coming to him and she rubbed his arm, then his face. He just laughed and told her
it wouldn't rub off.
I agree completely. As a kid growing up I never... (show quote)

Black face though does rub off.
Are they going to strike Al Jolson from the list of greatest entertainers?
He always wore blackface.
