More than 20 years since her husband was first embroiled in a sex scandal, Hillary Clinton is still standing by her man.
In an interview with CBS Sunday, the failed p**********l candidate said that her husband Bill should “absolutely not” have resigned from the presidency over his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. She added that the former president’s affair with Lewinsky was “not” an abuse of power because Lewinsky was a legal adult at the time.
Hillary: Lewinsky affair not abusive
The former first lady has become a vocal supporter of the #MeToo movement in recent months, a position that some say is complicated by her defense of her husband. Asked by CBS whether she has ever played any role in attacking the character of her husband’s accusers, Mrs. Clinton gave a firm denial.
“None,” she said. “I take responsibility for my life and my actions.”
But in almost the same breath, Clinton went on to defend her husband’s involvement with Lewinsky, saying that he should “absolutely not” have stepped down over the scandal that led to his impeachment by the House for lying about the affair.
