When Trump says his most important thing is the United States, he means it. He has recently told the WTO, World Trade Organization, which was created while Clinton was president and has worked very hard to hurt the US with trade agreements and Trump just told them to ease off or he would be out of the damned organization. I imagine they believe him since he didn't go on an apology like Obama did immediately.

He needs to stay out of trade and things he hasn't got a clue about so that Pence doesn't have to try to clean up the mess.
