In 1939, a movie called "Mr. Smith goes to Washington" came out.
Let me remind you of some of the quotes from the movie,
You see, boys forget what their country means by just reading The Land of the Free in history books. Then they get to be men they forget even more. guess this is just another lost cause Mr. Paine. All you people don't know about lost causes. Mr. Paine does. He said once they were the only causes worth fighting for and he fought for them once. Now I've told you all this because - well, I've grown very fond of you - about like a son - in fact, and I don't want to see you get hurt. Doesn't this sound familiar? It seems Senator Joseph Paine is just like Senator McCain. And Senator Jefferson Smith is just like Donald Trump. Am I wrong? I see many similarities.....

I agree for the most part McCain was much a run of the mill politician.
In his personal life & when he was a prisoner of war. He showed a true depth of care & concern for his fellow prisoners.
Some actions rate much higher on the personal value people put on others.
To not take personal advantage & put him self berore his fellow prisinors shows the measure of a true caring person.
That today is an action in short supply.
