https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/aug/24/vietnam-jails-two-americans-for-14-years-for-trying-to-o*******w-stateA court in Vietnam has sentenced two Americans to 14 years in jail for to “attempting to o*******w the state”, state media reported.
James Nguyen and Angle Phan were accused of plotting to hijack radio stations to broadcast anti-state messaging and of arranging anti-state protests, as members of the California-based Provisional National Government of Vietnam.
According to the state news agency, the judge said the defendant’s acts were “particularly serious, violating national security, sabotaging the country’s stability and development, causing instability in political and social order and going against the interests of the state.”
So... will we negotiate for their return or will President Trump respond like our previous administration and allow them to remain in prison for 14 years?
Well, they were in a foreign country and broke their laws. They need to do the time. Don't know what they thought was going to happen. They screwed themselves. It's what needs to happen here to i******s who protest in the streets demanding their rights.

And still will we buy “made in view nam” products and tour Viet Nam staying at the Hanoi Hilton. That hotel turned me off Hilton Hotels forever. Take a look at the museum at
Pensacola Air Station and see where and under what conditions our pilots were detained.
They called that the Hanoi Hilton and many of them never returned.
I consider these Viet Nam prisoners of today to be likened unto the Free French of WWII,
and the Cubans who came to Florida to be near enough to possibly go back and regain control of their country. I don’t know how it will be handled by President Trump, but I do know he’ll be criticized for it regardless. It can’t be worse than Obama exchanging militant murderous prisoners for one good for nothing treasonous Bergdahl.
I think that President Trump will try to bring them home. The sentence is rather harsh and the prisons in Vietnam are horrible. But, you are right President Trump will be criticized no matter what he does. Obama brought that t*****r home, but he let other rot in jails.

Yes that is what they were accused of doing.... and I agree, if they broke the laws then they should be jailed.

I have mixed emotion about this reason being was the charges true if so then if I was Trump or any president to not bother with them !
In the event the charges were trumped up and false then that would be altogether a whole new ballgame !
Spent 2 years 'hiking' in Viet Nam, Laos & Cambodia in the 60's and I spoke to a former Vietnamese Ranger who was back in country recently to visit family and said "It's a whole different world". Seeing as these two were from California I might tend to side with the judge on this one. Californian's seem to have a warped view on how things should be run.

No argument here. Great observation.
