There was a group of folks holding a rally at my State Capitol. These folks were emphasizing 1st amendment rights. Seems like something everyone could get behind, yeah? Well, there was a slight wrinkle............one of the groups worshiped Satan.
There were some folks from some religions I've never heard of, as well as folks from some more familiar religions. Turns out, the "familiar" folks were protesting against the Satan worshiping folks. I tried not to point out, that had the roles been reversed here, the "familiar" group would have been hollering about THEIR religion being under attack.
Fortunately, the 1st amendment seems to have won the day.
One of our State senators made this public comment, " it'll be a cold day in hell before we let that filth into our State". First of all, I guess when they covered the 1st amendment in lawyer school, he was out with the flu and missed it. Secondly, it appears that he has a direct line into hell, being able to measure the temperature and all. Thirdly, he must have been confused about which State he was in at the time...........because they are already here. And finally, that got me to thinking ( I know, circle the wagons and call the young'uns in and all that ".
I think I'd rather have folks worship Satan right out in the open ( if they've a mind to worship the dude ) where I can keep an eye on 'em - than have a bunch of Priests, Preachers, deacons and other Church folk, serve Satan on the sly................. pretending to be decent Christian folk, while whore mongering, committing adultery, lying against their neighbors, well, pretty much violating every commandment. Not to worry, now that their hypocrisy has been exposed...........they can go hide behind the Ten Commandment monument right there on the Capitol grounds.
