Yes, Linda, it is good to fully understand the fundamentals of governing systems, but when referring to our American system of government as it was framed, always leave out the word "democracy". The word does not appear anywhere in any of our founding documents, and our founders made it clear how much they abhorred the idea of a democracy.

The founders were skeptical about using democracy in the constituion so they used the word liberty instead to protect US citizens.
