Better late than never

A 700 billion dollar defense spending authorization is now law, a move Trump claims credit for, touting a major increase in military assets. It would have helped him seem less of an i***t, had any of his advisors bothered to read the bill to him, or had he listened had they done so. This bill does NOT increase military assets in an appreciable way - but it does do a hell of a lot of other, vitally necessary, stuff.

Among other things, it authorizes the Pentagon to intervene if ( and when ) China seeks to buy US assets impacting National Security. It REQUIRES the President to report to Congress on the status of sanctions on Russia, prohibits ANY military cooperation with Russia, increases military aid to Ukraine and bolsters US military assets in the region and increases US European military investment by almost 7 billion dollars.

There are several other provisions directly aimed at reining in P**********l impulsiveness and foolishness, mostly in regards to China and Russia, but would limit such behavior worldwide. This should have been done last year, but as the saying goes................better late than never.

It would appear that our Congress is finally growing up.

Since Trump has the military in his back pocket I don't see how much will change.
