In February 1993, Islamic jihadists Ramzi Yousef and Eyad Ismoil parked a Ryder truck loaded with a sophisticated and powerful bomb in the B2 underground parking level of the North Tower. They positioned the bomb in the SE corner where they hoped it would collapse into the South Tower and bring them both down. The bomb did considerable damage but failed to collapse the tower.

In February, 1995, under the direction of the FBI counterterrorism unit, agents of the US Diplomatic Service and the Pakistani ISI captured Yousef in Islamabad, Pakistan. He was immediately flown to the United States. While Yousef was being shuttled by helicopter to the federal prison in NY where he would be held until trial, they flew past the World Trade Center. One of the agents removed Yousef's blind fold and pointed to the towers and said, "See, they are still standing." Yousef replied that if they had had more money the towers would be down, he also said, "The next time they will come down."

Khalid Sheik Mohammed was the mastermind behind this 1993 attack and the 9/11 attack. The World Trade Center was put on al Qaeda's primary target list in 1988 when KSM and OBL were planning the "Planes Operation". This information was revealed through intercepts and was shared with foreign intelligence agencies including Mossad. Since Netanyahu knew this, he was correct in suggesting in his book that the World Trade Center may be attacked again.
