So Seriously, Subsidize Coal And Nuclear Plants That Are Becoming Too Expensive And Inefficient Rather Than Subsidize Clean Replacement?

Who thinks like this. We are seeing coal fired plants closing up because they are no longer viable. This indicates that the electric companies must have alternate energy sources in mind or they wouldn't phase out the old plants.

In any universe where logic prevails it makes no sense not to move on and let the competitive cost effective replacements kick into gear. That they are cleaner technologies is icing on the cake. This is literally telling utility companies not to close down their, we will pay you to keep them operating.

The cost is no joke, it works out to a cost of between about $200 to $500+ per person in the united states.

How about if we let the industry let old technology go and bring new cheaper power into gear that costs us what it should versus government assistance?

I'd rather people have welfare subsidies than corporations that don't need or warrant it.

there is no reason to burn coal trumps trying to k**l off everything except f****l f**ls he all but ruined the solar industry that's what Obama wanted to train coal miners to do!

TX is big on coal, around here ya need a fuel that packs a punch,
and one that gives ya more bang fer yer buck, coal is like diesel
and the burners are more durable, add in the new fuel injection
for crushed coal and the new scrubbers and ya got cheap durable
low maintenance, high output generators. It beats every alternative,

Well I guess all the other utilities will be changing to clean and cheap coal burners.

What are the clean, efficient , and cheap energy sources that they would want to have replace coal and shale oil?

Why do you think so many changed to N gas?

Coal and Diesel create more energy than natural gas.

Natural gas is only cost effective here in TX when the power plant is located
near a known large natural gas reserve, and because of high stress demand caused
by extreme high temps in the summer it does not take long to run a well dry.
((the hotter it gets the less amperage and voltage are in the grid))
Less amps means the hotter wires get when it comes to the end user.

It's not uncommon for a power co. to occasionally move a power plant closer to another gas reserve.

That being said Coal is like Diesel it Packs a Punch(it sips fuel)and therefore more reliable
in firing up long stretches of power lines with high voltage in the TX heat.

TX coal powered plants are located near rail lines for ease of access. TX is one of the
only states to exclusively have our own grid; in other words we don't share power with other states

Did you get your "expertise" from reading electric meters?

Gas, Nuclear and renewables, coal plants are converting to gas because it’s less expensive and clean burning

China is now leading the world in renewables and with Trump in Office he did a major dump of all the renewable data compiled over the last 50 years. So this is Trump leading from behind.

Wind and solar, with battery and storage systems, and there are cutting edge geothermal projects as well.

There are way more solar array projects supplementing municipal power companies than people are aware of. The right all of a sudden cares about birds when the subject of wind turbines comes up.

I ran my own 10 bay diesel truck and coach service center for over 10years, we're a big sales/service
lot now...During the day I'm into procuring heavy equip n' market desirable big rig tractors and coaches.

We're at the end of the grid line, so back in the day before I had an extra t***sformer put in, I was fortunate enough to put out a couple of small electrical fires before they got out of control.
Electrical problems are always the worst in the TX heat, and ya learn a few things.
