A Book That Might Interest You

Many members of this forum would be interested in a book called "The Common Good" by Robert B. Reich. No, this is NOT a Republican versus Democrat book, or politically partisan in the usual sense. Some of you dislike Reich so much you would not give credence to anything he might say. But this book is about a very different subject that we should all be considering.

I quote from the front cover flap about its subject:

"In a bracing answer to the prevailing headwinds of division, cynicism, and self-interest, Robery B. Reich makes a powerful case for the expansion of America's moral imagination. Rooting his argument in common sense and everyday reality, he demonstrates that a common good not only exists but in fact constitutes the very essence of any society or nation. Societies, he says, undergo virtuous cycles that reinforce the common good as well as vicious cycles that undermine it, one of which America has been experiencing for the past five decades. This process can and must be reversed. But first we need to weigh the moral obligations of citizenship and carefully consider how we as a country should relate to honor, shame, patriotism, t***h, and the meaning of leadership."

It doesn't matter which side of any partisan divide you may be on. The subject of this book is something we all should consider.
