Paper straws will decompose so they would be OK to use it the plastic ones that don't decompose that are the problem.

From what I understand that if you ask for a straw they will give you one but ut us against the law to give out a straw of npt asked for one.
It doesn't make sense to me but that is California for you.

They understand and take seriously g****l w*****g and earth pollution in California. I read that the r****ds in the EPA are considering revoking California's waiver which allows it to require meaningful air pollution standards. It is amazing how consistently Trump and his minions are ignorant of environmental concerns. They thumb their nose at every group from the Sierra Club to the local groups promoting recycling. Why can't you just pick up the glass, put your lips to the rim and drink some water or soda? What did people do before straws?.I Have not seen any use for them and never use them, and I have survived for 75 years without them.
