VATICAN CITY (AP) — Revelations that one of the most respected U.S. cardinals allegedly sexually abused both boys and adult seminarians have raised questions about who in the Catholic Church hierarchy knew — and what Pope Francis is going to do about it.

If the accusations against Cardinal Theodore McCarrick bear out — including a new case reported Friday involving an 11-year-old boy — will Francis revoke his title as cardinal? Sanction him to a lifetime of penance and prayer? Or even defrock him, the expected sanction if McCarrick were a mere priest?

And will Francis, who has already denounced a "culture of cover-up" in the church, take the investigation all the way to the top, where it will inevitably lead? McCarrick's alleged sexual misdeeds with adults were reportedly brought to the Vatican's attention years ago.

While I can respect the earnest followers of any religion I often wonder how Catholics can reconcile the conflict of religious teaching with the institution that has such a history of vile abuse towards its followers throughout the centuries since its establishment.
If such misdeeds as alleged about McCarrick were perpetrated by an officer of a private company retribution would be swift and unequivocal in today’s world.

The question is how does the Vatican keep getting away with it for centuries without having a reformation. The leadership is Luciferian to the max.

Bob, I'm Catholic and think these abusers should be JAILED if convicted. That the Church would protect them in any way is not only a sin against God but society as well. I think the Church's' leadership has been in cahoots with evil for a long time because of greed and wanting power. The Catholic Church is a corporation, a business if you will, and the Priests, Cardinals, Bishops, etc. are employees and stock holders. The corruption and cross over took place century's ago. A lot of Catholics follow the Church and Pope as blindly as you Progs follow the lefts lies and deviance but many like myself don't and want justice done and want the Church remade in the image of Peter and Christ who anointed Peter the head of the Church.
