Happy Fourth. A Little Trivia.

As tens of millions of Americans prepare to celebrate Independence Day, not many of them realize that the real day is July 2nd. That's right; Congress v**ed for Independence on the second of July, not the Fourth. The Declaration wasn't ready for publication until the Fourth.

Maybe even a little less known is that The Declaration of Independence, though written on the 2nd of July, and approved on the 4th...was not officially signed and thus ratified, until August 2nd, 1776.

Just compromise, start celebrating on July 2nd and go until August 2nd.

Some of our guys have been celebrating like that for years. Then spend August 3rd to September 4th to get rid of hangovers and blood shot eyes.

True proud American patriot all of them.

There was also an earlier declaration from 1775 called, The Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms. It was a document issued by the Second Continental Congress on July 6, 1775, to explain why the Thirteen Colonies had taken up arms in what had become the American Revolutionary War. The final draft of the Declaration was written by John Dickinson, who incorporated language from an earlier draft by Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson said John Dickson would be well remembered in history for his great writing sk**l and contribution to our freedom. Ask even the moderately well informed on history and you will probably hear, John who?
