At least one potential threat to Trump’s team has been taken off the streets, for now. Ajit Varadaraj Pai is a telecommunications director who serves as the Chairman of the United States Federal Communications Commission for President Trump. He’s better known as the guy whose v**e rolled back net neutrality.

According to Fortune, a man who sent email threatening to k**l the children of FCC chair Ajit Pai was arrested today, according to the Department of Justice. Markara Man had several charges proffered against him related to Pai’s status as a federal official. Death threats against an official or immediate family, and attempts to intimidate, interfere with, or retaliate against an official based on his or her official duties are all federal crimes.

The first email blamed Pai for a child allegedly committing suicide over the repeal of net neutrality regulations. Subsequent emails contained threats against Pai’s family’s lives and pictures of his family.

As Written By Tom McKay With Gizmodo:

According to the affidavit, Man also provided police with a handwritten apology letter reading in part, “I’m sorry I made a threat against your kids. That was crossing the line.”

If convicted on charges of threatening to murder the family of an acting US official with the intent of intimidating or retaliating against them for carrying out their duties, the DOJ wrote, Man could face a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

Pai has repeatedly claimed that net neutrality activists have targeted him and his family for harassment, the Post wrote, including a number of death threats. The FCC hearing where Pai and his fellow Republican commissioners repealed the net neutrality rules was briefly interrupted by a bomb h**x. In January, Pai dropped out of an appearance at 2018’s Consumer Electronics Show, with sources who spoke to Recode citing death threats as the reason why.
