I am wondering if anyone here knows that an ex post facto law is one that is passed to take away a right of anyone. Those laws are purely to keep legislatures from passing laws that apply to people when the law they seem to have broken weren't crimes when they were committed.

This is exactly what I am trying to say, not to mention there is a little matter of a constitutional prohibition on states passing ex post facto laws.

The United States Constution and ever state Constution forbids any ex post facto law.

Yet some states knowingly violate this law to suite their own agenda.
