Constitutional Convention?

I read today that Michigan is now on board for a Constitutional Convention (Con-Con) and it marks the 34th state which is enough to call a Convention together. The purpose is to reign in our out of control government, but that may not be the outcome. So we REALLY want a Con-Con?

Copied here is just a part of what is found from
Phyllis Schlafly at Eagle Forum

We totally agree that a Con-Con will only result in our tyrannical situation even worse.

In V**e2012, 98% of Americans failed to either notice or care that they were supporting collectivism under wh**ever sub-set you care to name.

This same bunch of bandits now control this GOVERNment, and we can be certain that they will also control any constitutional convention. It’s simply Bad to Worse!

From what I have read, the actual workings of a Constitutional Convention are not clear. I also think Congress must call for it based on states' petitioning. If Congress has anything to do with it, we know it will be scripted by them.

The big worry about Con-Cons is that one never knows where it will lead. We know that the equivalent of "community organizers" is flooding the US at most things political in order to get their way on everything possible, and a Con-Con is the absolute perfect thing for them to try to control. Be wary, everyone. Be wary.

The state of Indiana is supposed to have law on the record that says any delegates to a Convention Of States will be given strict guidelines on what amendments they can propose, and how they can v**e on proposed amendments. If they move outside those guidelines, they will be immediately recalled, and can with a crime. Those delegates are there to represent the legislatures of their states. Perhaps other states need these laws.

Interesting. This can be good, can be horrible. The people themselves need a say. Not so much politicians, not groups, nor organizations, but good old American nobodies should be able to at least voice opinions.

Constitutional Convention with the present day scholars and twisted geniuses in DC? Not just 'NO WAY'-- but, 'NO EFFIN' WAY'!!!

To even pretend the kind of mature, educated, measured, selfless, patriots inhabit present congress as what authored the Constitution is ludicrous and I am convinced turning that job of re-engineering the Constitution of the United States of America over to what we see every day as a conglomerate of egoists and borderline psychopaths would surely result in ruination.

We'd all be better served if those stupid monkeys in DC simply adhered to the laws as they are written.

Harry Reid, Nancy P, Holder and Omaba will run the Con-Cons. When it's over there will be no 1st, 2nd or 4th amendment.

I couldn't agree more. The major problem with a con con is that we cannot control it. Just look at the first one as an example of what can happen. True it turned out great, but they were supposed to go there just to make that Constitution workable. Instead we got an entirely new Constitution and we will get a new one this time too. How do I know you may ask?? Simple, they already have one waiting for just such a chance and they will also change the way it is approved.

Our present Constitution says it take 2/3 majority to pass anything, but a new one can change all that and will. It can simply be changed to a simple majority of Congress if they want to and once it is passed, we will go through hell trying to change that. Holding a con con would be the biggest mistake we could ever make. Why do you think they have been trying to get one all these years. The progressives WANT a new Constitution so they can get rid of all that garbage about arms and anything else they don't like. Make no mistake, they want a new Constitution and will do anything to get one. They are already breaking this one into little pieces just so they can say we need a new one.

Read this and then tell me if you honestly want a con con. If they ever do get one started, we may as well go to war, because this, or one like it will be our new Constitution and there will be nothing we can do about it short of going to war. If you think this country has problems now, just wait until they get something like this passed. We won't have a choice and we won't have anything to say as to what is in it. We will just be handed this and told this is our new Constitution and either like it or lump it. This would be the fastest way I know of to start a new Civil War................

I have to agree with you (and I'm not pointing fingers at any one party or person)... several years ago I felt there was a need (and still do) for some serious considerations regarding our government and the Constitution; however, I really don't feel a lot of trust for ANYONE currently in office. Fortunately, a constitutional change requires a 2/3 and not just majority v**e, so this will probably simply amount to a waste of more of our tax dollars.

The various state legislations are supposed to be the voice of the people...let them know what you want for government, then prove it by v****g that way. Remember, the States formed the Feral(oh, excuse me, I mean Federal) Government and have the final say as to what the Constitution says...you know, the one so many people have sworn to protect and uphold.

That link was truly an eye-popper for numerous reasons. One comes away with the feeling that the rights could just about be totally forbidden to all by any president just declaring a state of emergency-- Whoa, eh?!

Secondly, the proposed *constitution* like the Obamacare Bill, says a lot(!) but carries nothing of benefit to the population. Man, those progressives love their verbosity.. when will they understand that volume and numbers of words matter little when reasoning and wisdom are called into play? Didn't we enjoy a world-class, top-of-the-line health care system BEFORE Pelosi's 2700 pages of BS?

I believe everyone commenting so far believe exactly the way I do - that a Con-con can be very, VERY dangerous to those who cherish freedom. If we had decent people to start with, it may be different, but when we have legislators who lie, c***t, steal and diss the public, I simply do not trust them with ANYTHING OF VALUE, and the Constitution is priceless.

I think every one of you is absolutely right!

That would be a start, for sure. Can't see it happening with the present crowd, though.
Just looking at the v**e tally for Obamacare, though, leaves some small hope.
"V**e Results: House Passes Obamacare

Benjamin Domenech –

The final v**e tally for the Senate version of President Obama's health care reform legislation in the House was 219-212, with 34 Democrats joining all Republicans in opposition.

The key takeaway for opposition groups is that Speaker Pelosi needed to make a last-day deal with Rep. Bart Stupak and his small group of pro-life Democrats in order to achieve passage. That deal came in the form of an executive order from the White House, which we explained here. Democrats who opposed were:

Adler, Altmire, Arcuri, Barrow, Berry, Boren, Boucher, Bright, Chandler, Childers, A.Davis, L.Davis, C.Edwards, Herseth Sandlin, Holden, Kissell, Kratovil, Lipinski, Lynch, Marshall, Matheson, McIntyre, McMahon, Melancon, Minnick, Nye, Peterson, Ross, Shuler, Skelton, Space, Tanner, Taylor, Teague"

Here is an example of what is wrong with the people in the U.S. A constitutional convention is suppose to be held and run by the people not the government! Wakeup America!!!!!!!!!

Article 5 of the Constitution is totally inadequate, without much definition of how a ConCon might work. So, ANYTHING GOES! With the v**ers having accepted progressive socialism as the new standard for America, and with 34 states now having thus sent this to Congress for [unknown] action, I believe we can expect the worst.

There are many problems with our Constitution, which have brought America to inevitable disaster... same as all GOVERNments throughout history. Such always permit Rulers and Force, subjecting some 7 billions of "citizens" to the whims of flawed DNA.
