An East Tennessee hardware store owner decided to express his beliefs following the Supreme Court's ruling allowing same-sex marriage by putting up a sign that reads, "No Gays Allowed."

Jeff Amyx, who owns Amyx Hardware & Roofing Supplies in Grainger County, Tennessee., about an hour outside of Knoxville, added the "No Gays Allowed" sign on Monday, because gay and lesbian couples are against his religion.

Amyx, who is also a baptist minister, said he realized Monday morning that L**T people are not afraid to stand for what they believe in. He said it showed him that Christian people should be brave enough to stand for what they believe in.

"They gladly stand for what they believe in, why can't I? They believe their way is right, I believe it's wrong. But yet I'm going to take more persecution than them because I'm standing for what I believe in," Amyx said.

On Tuesday, Amyx removed the "No Gays allowed" sign and replaced it with a sign that says: "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who would violate our rights of freedom of speech & freedom of religion."

I think every business should discriminate as the owner sees fit. I go to a little diner often for breakfast. If they put up a sign saying No B****s allowed I would no longer frequent that establishment. I believe; they should be allowed if they want to. Same with a black owned establishment, or gay, or anyone else. After all you would probably only end up hurting your own business. However; if the business takes one dollar of tax payer subsidy then he cannot discriminate at all.

So you think the baker is going to see his business harmed for refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple? I'll bet you a dollar against your nickle that his business doubled because every bigoted Christian in the area is going to line up to patronize him. Whenever a minority is seen to encroach on the rights of a majority the majority always rally's to beat back the minority. You may not patronize a restaurant that discriminates against b****s but there are any number of Conservatives and the alt-right who would gladly dance on the rights of uppity ni&&ers just as you people did with those b****s who took a knee.

Not for a gay couple, no. Not enough gays to affect his bottom line. BS. If your argument was correct Obama couldn't have won twice. The ass holes taking knees are just showboating disrespectful fools, in my opinion. You are the one always sees color. Got news for you. Most hockey players are white. If they decided to take a knee I wouldn't watch them either.

I would stop watching NASCAR if they pulled that crap, or baseball, or wakfuk, or anything else.
Read this guy's posts, Jim. I see a pattern that he seems to think wins all arguments. It's interesting.

Yea. I only converse with him for the entertainment value. Yes everything comes down to color with this troll. Well I have never knowingly discriminated, don't really know anyone that has. Sometimes when people can't find a reason for bad behavior they have to find a a scape goat.

Amyx should have added "We do not sell sex toys, rainbow condoms, strap on dildos, penis pumps, latex body stockings, or gay porn".

I disagree with this sort of thing. However, I do side with the bakers in their case. They would have sold anything in their store to the gay men and had, apparent;y done so in the past. However, in their case the gay couple were asking them to create something with a same sex marriage depiction on the cake. They were being asked to violate their beliefs in that regard. Had they refused to sell to the gay couple anything they had on their shelves or catalogues, I would then have sided with the gay couple.

I might ask the hardware store owner how he might know a person is gay when they walk into their store? Especially if the person came in alone.

They whole issue is weird and smacks of the gay's wish to flaunt their sexuality and I don't like that any more than I like blackness flaunted upon me or the college admissions folks or employers who are hiring sk**led workers, or reviewing resumes, or deciding scholarships, etc, etc.

I'll be frank, as I have before, I find men kissing and holding each other to be gross; not offensive but just plain gross. But hey, to each his own. Good luck with that.

peter, your problem is that you look at anyone of CHRISTIAN FAITH as being bigoted. THAT’S YOUR PROBLEM NOT OURS.
We believe in the BIBLE. You know that book of right and wrong.
GOD is very specific about the deprivation of two men living as man and wife. HIS words not mine.
You are the bigots and r****ts of our World but are to blinded to realize it.
Since I know that you’re thinking about President Trump about now let me just say that he’s definitely a sinner, but he’s more in line with GOD’S plan for us than the pediophile clinton.
