Florida Democrats Are Officially A Banana Republic!
The state’s l*****ts have been caught again smack in the middle of yet another e******n s**m – and it looks like it’s going to lead to outside experts monitoring their upcoming e******ns to ensure fairness.
Yes, just like what happens when the United Nations has to send monitors to banana republics. That’s how untrustworthy Florida Democrats have become.
The scandal that brought them here centers around Debbie Wasserman Schultz, one of the shiftiest figures in the Democratic Party and a top Clinton political insider. It involved her 2016 primary e******n challenge by Tim Canova.
Polls showed a right race — just a month earlier Wasserman Schultz, had resigned in shame as head of the Democratic National Committee.
She alienated the party’s progressive wing after leaked emails showed her undermining Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ dark-horse bid for the Democratic nomination and tried to prop up Hillary Clinton.
Despite the polls… despite the cloud of suspicion… and despite the anger… she somehow not only won but defeated Canova handily by 13 percentage points.
Suspicious, Canova asked to see the b****ts, as is his right, especially after one expert called the odd-looking v**e tally “potentially implausible.”
“A number of e******n integrity experts expressed serious concerns about the official results,” Canova wrote earlier this year.
He accused Broward County E******n Supervisor Brenda Snipes of stonewalling his request and eventually filed suit against her.
Yet while the lawsuit was pending – and despite both federal and state laws protecting the b****ts – Snipes ordered them destroyed.
Whoops!
Canova and his supporters are no doubt wondering what she was hiding. He’s so fed up that he’s quit the Democratic Party and this year will run against Wasserman Schultz as an independent.
He also wants Snipes tossed out of office, although it looks like that’s not going to happen.
She claims it was a “mistake,” and threw her staff under the bus, blaming them for giving her forms to sign that was incorrect.
Nice.
“When I sign, I sign folders filled with information,” she testified, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “I trust my staff. They have the responsibility of giving me information that’s correct.”
The buck doesn’t stop here!
She is vowing to appeal, but it sounds more like yet another stalling tactic than anything else given that the b****ts were destroyed in violation of the law.
In any case, even with the ruling against her, she already got away with it. You can’t un-destroy the b****ts.
The ruling doesn’t punish her or Wasserman Schultz, it just means that the next e******n in the district will be watched by “experts” to make sure the rules are followed.
“During the upcoming e******n, the Department of State will send a Florida e******ns expert from the Division of E******ns to Supervisor Snipes’ office to ensure that all laws are followed so the citizens of Broward County can have the efficient, properly run e******n they deserve,” Gov. Rick Scott told Politico.
Scott, a Republican, has extra incentive to ensure there’s no funny business in Broward: He will be running for a U.S. Senate seat that same e******n.
