This is a hell of a dilemma for liberals. Outlaw all cougars or riding bikes.

I saw a report today that the pair had an encounter with the cat moments before the fatal attack, and backed it down.

The cat then circled around behind them and attacked from behind, as they were riding away, their favorite means of attack.

To be seen as fleeing, from the cat's perspective, is the surest way to ensure an attack. Their favorite target is the back of the neck.

The couger first attacked the survivor, missed the neck and had him by the head, or I suspect helmet.

It then went after his friend, who reportedly was fleeing, with fatal results

I hope we will see the necropsy report, did the couger have an injury or disability that made it unable to catch its normal prey?

Man-eating is extremely rare among the couger, catamount, mountian lion, puma, panther species.

Mountian lions from the Black Hills of SD have been genetically tracked as far away as New England.

Several are shot within city limits every year in S.D. and surrounding states, and we now have a statewide hunting season for them.

For those who cannot or will not carry "lion medicine", I suggest a good whistle, carried around the neck, and used only if needed!

Finally, fight back! It improves your odds of survival by 1000%

We always speak of self defense against humans, but many times it is against animal life. In 2010 Governor Rick Perry of Texas shot a coyote that attacked his dog while he was jogging. One of my friends was recently attacked by a large dog while she was walking her small dog. This was in a wealthy suburban neighborhood. Unfortunately she was not armed. Fortunately a passing motorist stopped and my friend and her dog hopped in and were unhurt. The attacking dog's owner lost control of his animal. I don't know how you walk an animal who is stronger than you. Point being that animal attacks can happen anytime, anywhere.

Another Reason To Be Armed, Cougar Attacks.

Add this; Be Armed With The Right Type Of
Firearm, & UDAP Bear Spray, At The Least!! On
a Vacation Some year’s ago, I Visited The Spectacular Beauty, Of Glacier National Park In
Montana. I did not carry any weapon while in
The Park. When I pulled-off, the scenic two lane,
drive, to photograph an area that Resembled Switzerland’s Alp’s, I ran “smack-dab” into a Mama, Grizzly Bear With Two Cup’s; the wind was right, & I made the sprint, back to my car!
This was in the month of late May. I was staying
at a low rate Motel in Missoula MT. The next night, within The City Limit’s a 150 lb. cougar was hit & k**led by a Logging Truck! Within The
Next Week a nine year old boy, was attacked, K**led, & drug off, by a different cougar, & later
Put-Down by Authorities, & the remains of the
Child Recovered, near St. Ignatius, MT.
The F**e New’s, Does Not Report, On Much Of the very real, Wild Animal Attack’s, Or
The Non-White, On White, Crime Explosion.
When I lived in Orlando, FLA. Some Year’s, ago ,There Was a very brief, report on the large number of Pet Dog’s, missing from the backyard’s, of a newly constructed, Housing Development, on the nearby shores of Big Lake
Monroe, near Sanford, FLA. I saw the 25 second report, on channel 2. Fish & Game Authorities,
Caught/Trapped, The Culprit, Not An Alligator, As
First Believed, But a 13 foot Crocodile. They determined that it WAS an Indigenous Animal,
That had migrated North on The St. John’s, River, when it was born into this World, Further
South!! Be Careful, Out There Folk’s, The World
Is Indeed, a Dangerous Place, & You May, Very Well, “NOT BE AT THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN”!!??

I recently upgraded my hiking/camping firearm to a 10mm Glock 20 and retired the Ruger speed six 357. Now that the weather is nicer, I'll have to go out and see how she runs😊

I'm jealous. My wife is perfectly happy with the industrial size Bear spray.
Hope I don't have to see how my Sig Sauer .45 operates against a bear. Wife says her spray is better.
