ACA Curse on America!

Obamacare Is Really Bad For Middle-Class America

Insurers in one east coast state are following the lead of Virginia in asking for Obamacare plan rate hikes of between 18% and 91%.

The announcement from Maryland is only a few days behind a similar call for rate increases in Virginia, and Democrats are using the proposed increases to attack Donald Trump, and not the guy the plan is named after.

Maryland’s State Obamacare Insurers

Marylanders have the option of four different Obamacare insurers, including CareFirst, BlueCross, BlueShield and Kaiser Permanente.

The first three insurers are planning to raise the rates for HMO plans on the law’s exchanges by 18%, and a whopping 91% for extended network (PPO) plans. All four insurers have already filed their plans with the state.

Kaiser Permanente’s filings have requested a rate increase of 37%.

Rates Must Be Approved

According to the laws of Maryland, these rate increases must be approved by the state and fully finalized before the cut off date of November 1st, when open enrollment starts. Maryland’s insurance regulator is saying that these rates don’t reflect the legislation passed by the General Assembly which called to improve insurance coverage.

Since the Obamacare exchange is aimed to the individual market, it is purchased by those who do not get their health coverage from the government or their jobs.

Don’t Blame Obama?

Let’s say you have an insurance plan under Obamacare. Who do you think you should probably point to if the plans don’t turn out very well? How about President Trump?

According to the ever-present slimeball Chuck Schumer, the Senate Democrat Leader from New York, this is all the fault of Republicans.

“Republicans know they own the skyrocketing healthcare costs, but instead of working in a bipartisan fashion to lower the costs, they actively undermined our healthcare system and made the problem worse.”

Thanks for the advice, Chuck. Health care, especially with Obamacare, is a dense topic. I recently asked the opinion of someone who works on patient intake for a network of clinics and they relayed that they still only barely understand the plans, and that patients especially don’t understand the plans. There’s just too much regulation for any person, even those who work in the field, to figure it all out. The best solution has to be simpler, not “cheaper.”

Luckily the Tax Cut and Reform Bill has been putting money back into the pockets of working Americans.

The State of Obamacare

While there has been a repeal of the requirement that everyone under the sun must have insurance, it does not take hold until 2019, and insurers are now in a panic because they fear that younger and healthier people will no longer buy into plans that cover all sorts of other costs.

Forbes: Obamacare Increased Your Premiums

After analyzing information from the sales of Obamacare plans, for the first four years of Obamacare “every age group and household type experienced an increase [in premiums] of between 56.0% and 63.2%.”

That is, the average cost for an individual to obtain insurance increased over $2,500, and the average cost was raised over $12,000 for a family whose head is over the age of 60.

In all, the Affordable Care Act “raised premiums by about 60%.”

DHS: Obamacare Increased Opioid Abuse

In February of this year, a report to the Senate included findings showing that with strong coverage for opioids, people were attracted to the notion that you could be easily prescribed the pills then flip them for a much higher cost.

“The Senate report notes that “those with a Medicaid card can get prescriptions for opioids, such as oxycodone, for as little as $1 for up to 240 pills. Those pills, however, can be sold on the street for up to $4,000.”

By allowing “children” to stay on their parents plans until the age of 26 and by expanding Medicaid, Obamacare fed into the group of underemployed working age men who were previously uninsured, and gave them a way to get their hands on high price and highly addictive drugs.

Trump Is Going Ahead with K*****g Obamacare

As mentioned before, Trump’s policy has repealed the mandate to force everyone to have insurance, first by requesting that the IRS ignore the component and then it was removed in the latest budget bill.

As well, one of Trump’s executive orders allowed health insurance companies to sell off-marketplace cheap plans called “association health plans” that are aimed at small businesses who want to group up to get better rates from insurers.

With the help of the few conservative Republicans in Congress including Sen. Mike Lee, Rep. Jim Jordan, Rep. Mark Meadows and Sen. Ted Cruz, more small changes will continue to unfurl in the future.

Cheaper and better shouldn't be too hard, BB. I use this video as an example of what I want to say. How about you? I have been on Medicare for over 20 years so was never forced to go into Obamacare and I am surely as hell glad the Dems got in with Medicare first.
