An American Patriot speaks...

John Wayne’s speech at Jimmy Carter’s Inaugural Gala, January 1977:

“I have come here tonight to pay my respects to our 39th President, our new Commander-in-Chief and to wish you, Godspeed, sir, in the uncharted waters ahead. Starting tomorrow at high noon, all of our hopes and dreams go into that great house with you. For you have become our t***sition into the unknown tomorrows. And everyone is with you.

“I am privileged to be present and accounted for in this capitol of freedom to witness history as it happens — to watch a common man accept uncommon responsibilities he won ‘fair and square’ by stating his case to the American people — not by bloodshed, beheadings and r**ts at the palace gates.

“I know I am considered a member of the opposition — the Loyal Opposition — accent on Loyal. I’d have it no other way.

“In conclusion, may I add my voice to the millions of others all over the world who wish you well, Mr. President.

“All we ask is that you preserve this — one Nation under God — with liberty and justice for all.

“And we have no doubt you will, sir.”

The difference between a true patriot and someone like Nancy Pelosi or Maxine Waters or any of the other sniveling, h**eful losers.

teabag, What makes John Wayne a patriot? It's one thing to play a war hero in the movies, another to join the service and be a hero. Ted Williams was a real American hero. He interrupted his baseball career at its height twice to defend his country. Many folks in sports and the entertainment world did so much more than John Wayne. Bob Hope entertained American service men and women for decades, through WW11, Korea, the cold war and Vietnam on many, many tours. Elvis Presely was drafted and served in the army as a truck driver. How did John Wayne show his patriotism besides making big bucks in the movies portraying real heroes.

“I know I am considered a member of the opposition — the Loyal Opposition — accent on Loyal. I’d have it no other way."

So the concept of 'loyal opposition' wasn't lost back then. Too bad it's no longer recognized.

We both look at things differently.
To me you are just what you accuse me of being.
To me there is a need for things to be done on a higher moral & ethic level

You look to Trump to fix the probles you see we have.
I don't see any one in politics fixing the problems I see we have.

We are divided in what we see as problems & the cause of the problems.
As long as we areso deeply divided onn somany isues.
The games in Washinton will continue.

I can look after my self & family no matter what Washington does or don't do.
Why do I say that.
I know that the people as individuals for the most part are good.
I know that those grabing the most are weak & fear the masses.
I know that once a person realizes that they need only look for the strenght with in them self.
Once one comes to under stand that at any given time there is only so much to go around.

Resourses are limited & the wants of the people are also limited.
It is home basic needs & the wants of the people are distributed where the problems are.
When the wants of some become more important & the basic needs for others are hard to come by.
There is something wrong in the system.

We both see that but we both look at both the cause & remmides different.
I say it is in the balanance of power that lets some to buy changes in our government to do this.
You seem to look at that as fine & dandy.

I see this path we are on & you think parts of the causes are fine.

So I say we are as individuals are at a stalemate.

We will live with what ever we are left twith or we can Unite to change things the best we can.

I was fortunet enought to be born White & smarter than most while gaining a strong work ethic.
Most of what life that goes on is well with in my grasp to meet the limited level I seek.
I have more that some & less than others.
I am not a person with strong emotion ties to material things.

Well J until we both reach some sorth of agreement of just what it is we both seek we will stay divided.

Our todays will be much like our yesterdays & our tomorrows will be less than our yeterdays.
My tomorrows at 81 means that it is a waste of time & effort to get worked up over it.
It is in the interest of family I will leave behind that I wish to see changes.
They don't quite show the level of empathy I have.

Empathy is in short suply in the World to day.
Untill we release the empathy for others each of us has.
We will face the lack of empathy in others.
With the what ever that causes.

I have great hope for man kind.
The seeds for it are every where.
We just need to plant & nurture them.

Peace be with You.
