The illusion of peace

Does anyone remember when America was at peace? Nope, but no doubt some mentioned 1945 or some other war. Peace is not the absence of war, which we've not seen since 1945, peace is the absence of fear, resentment, anger and unhappiness. Peace brings happiness and contentment.

The illusion of peace always leaves someone resentful, which will ruin the illusion at some point. Some thought the signing of the Civil Rights act would bring peace, and it did for some, for others - resentment. The end of the Vietnam war didn't bring peace for America, it just stopped the anti war protests. The end of the Civil War didn't bring peace, as evidenced by the continued resentment in the South.

Resentment simply means reliving an event that brought anger, shame, fear, envy, or any other negative emotion. The sufferer feels the pain again and again, which becomes magnified over time - until there is an eruption. Here's a more relevant example: How much real peace has America experienced since the Republicans gained control of all three branches of the Federal Government and the majority of State governments? Sure, do doubt some breathed a big sigh of relief, but, well..........it was short lived.

America has never really known true peace, but there are illusions of peace galore. Everyone has their own idea of what peace should look like, perhaps even experienced it at some point, but no one has known true peace. America is involved in more combat now than it was 20 years ago, and that's just the stuff we know about - there are classified operations going on continuously. Are we any closer to defeating our enemies and seeing a period of peace? Hell no! We've managed to grow the list of enemies. Are we closer to ending partisan rancor and seeing peace and tranquility in our politics? I'm not even going to answer that one............it's too damn obvious.

When any group achieves it's aims or goals, others are left with resentments - the bane of true peace. One could, theoretically, murder, imprison, intimidate, or otherwise neutralize all opposition to one's rule, but the resentments would still be there, and eventually erupt. We can never see peace by forcing others to comply with what we believe will bring US peace, but if enough force is used, the illusion of peace can be created - for a time, a very short time. It would be statistically impossible to get two Americans to agree 100% on everything, today, it seems impossible to get them to agree on ANYTHING. When your candidate doesn't get elected, you can pretend to accept the people's choice, at least outwardly - but inside you're seething, because the people were so incredibly stupid.

No external, military, or political forces can bring us peace...................we have to achieve that on our own. We can't achieve peace by forcing others to comply with our views or standards of behavior - we have to generate peace inside ourselves. How do we do this? First, by accepting our position in the universe, which requires astronomical ( pun intended ) amounts of humility. Second, by accepting the premise that our ideas are probably NOT good for anyone other than ourselves. Third, accepting others right to think for themselves, and barring bringing physical harm to others, have a right to do as they please. Fourth - learn to mind our own business and be content.

Each of us is a very small cog in an enormous machine, our input is largely irrelevant, the machine will hum right along without any of our brilliant ideas. It's hard enough to abide by our own principles/values all the time, harder to get willing compliance from our family members, and impossible to get anyone else on board. Unless someone is in YOUR bed, trying to perform anal sex on YOU, you receive no harm from others pursuit of such acts - it's none of your business and should be left alone - as just one example of the borrowed angst preventing peace. When the majority of Americans learn humility, approach the rest of the world with a humble agenda ( we do NOT know best ) and learn to seek inner peace and contentment, allowing all others to pursue what brings the same for them without interference, learn to accept the fact that it ain't all about us - America will know true peace for the first time in it's history.

Nope...no peace. The l*****ts believe in victory at all costs and want to throw the rule book out the window so smash mouth-mouth, legal and well-documented retribution is what they'll get.

An amoral society will never know peace. If you ever read the Book of Judges in the Bible the key phrase is that "Everyone did what was right in his own eyes." It was a complete disaster.

That's the thing...............what if YOU win? Gonna get what YOU deserve?

The sad t***h is, the best solutions have never been found in the wings, or the extremes, but we've forgotten that and seek them there anyway. Know where the Constitution lies? It is neither left OR right, it's where those extremes START FROM........................which should inform everyone where the answers are to be found.......................right down the middle.

There can be no peace through warfare of any kind.

Here's my advice to those that can't find inner peace...........................give it a f&king rest.

Thank God, it was getting tiresome.
