VIDEO: Miami Police Officer Kicks Face-Down, Handcuffed Man in the Head
May 3, 2018 by Sarah Quinlan

This morning, a bystander caught the moment that a Miami police officer ran toward a man handcuffed on the ground — who had another officer restraining him — and kicked him in the head. The bystander posted the video to Facebook, where it quickly received attention.

According to a police report obtained by BuzzFeed News, the man was suspected of stealing a Jeep Cherokee. Police had pursued him in the Jeep until he allegedly crashed into a concrete wall, then fled on foot until officers restrained him.

Miami police spokesperson Kenia Fallat told BuzzFeed News that the officer, Mario Figueroa, has been suspended with pay pending an internal investigation of the incident.

Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina addressed the video earlier today on Twitter, stating that the video “depicts a clear violation of policy” and that “the officer has been relieved of duty, and the Miami-Date State Attorney’s office has been contacted.”

According to multiple outlets, the police report stated that the man “took a fighting stance” when ordered to get on the ground but mentions nothing about kicking. The kicking in the head of a face-down, handcuffed man seems like pertinent information, and it is concerning that it wasn’t included in the report and likely would have gone unknown and unpunished if not for the bystander’s video.

To be clear, we should not minimize the risk that police officers take and the role that they play in keeping our society safe; the men and women of law enforcement put their safety and their lives at risk every single day, and we should appreciate their willingness to do so. But as conservatives often state, power has a creeping and corrupting influence, and the humans who make up our police forces are no less susceptible to those fundamental t***hs than anyone else.

The type of abuse of a position of authority we saw in Miami today is indicative of what advocates of police reform are referring to when they call for additional police retraining, specifically when it comes to instruction regarding de-escalation.

According to a 2015 report by the Police Executive Research Forum, police recruits spend only eight hours in training to de-escalate situations.

It is not “anti-police” to want police to be better equipped to handle tense situations, which would help to ensure that fewer lives — both of suspects and police officers — are lost during such incidents.

And it is not “anti-police” to believe that law enforcement should not abuse their power and mistreat defenseless Americans once in custody. As a nation that believes in “rule of law,” this should be what we strive for.

Soon it will be eye for an eye with Cops anywhere anytime, everytime, all the time especially in trouble areas.

The Unconstitutional ParaMilitarized Police State is approaching the Event Horizon and soon the Citizen’s will take matters into their own hands.

I agree with your posting, 'that law enforcement should not abuse their power.'
I believe that this standard is strongly adhered to by a high majority of our Law Enforcement Agencies.
It is not usually swept under the rug, but strong disciplinary actions are taken (although not heard or seen by the media or public).

I don't see your support and praise for Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina and his subordinates addressing the problem or you volunteering to be part of your local Law Enforcement efforts and their fight against predators and corruption.
However, you continue to bash Law Enforcement without restraint.

One sad day, as you stand with the Waste Stream Media (news and entertainment) and support the corrupt politicians that abuse and disdain our Law Enforcement Officers... you will reap what you sow. Eventually, the only Officers serving will be the corrupt and ruthless... others will shy away from being stigmatized and publicly tried before their side is heard.

I'm not condescending to you, but is this the path you want to travel?
Law Enforcement is a dedicated, noble and honorable Lifestyle; more than just a career, just as much if not more, than when I served in the Armed Forces.

I understand and even though you have valid points, it’s Cooked and it’s now over... or tipping over...
the current status of the Police apparatus state is unconstitutional and now we’re going to dismantle it one piece at a time.

You can either side with Nationalist Patriots and Constitutionalists or you can Side with Federalists which will also be dismantled in the coming years.

You guys can’t have it both ways much longer it’s not going to work.

We will destroy and tear everything down if necessary to return our Sovereignty, True Rights, Land, minerals and freedoms this Republic was built on... not the one they’ve Duped you on.

While I may not agree with Sicilianthing about conspiracy theories, we are pretty much on the same wavelengths regarding law enforcement. Usually they behave in a professional and honorable manner, but there are a few bad eggs who abuse their power, sometimes to the point of k*****g innocent people. I use the term "pig" to describe them, in the same way that I might call a grossly incompetent physician a quack, or an unethical lawyer a shyster. The bottom line is that the behavior of these cops is creating a vicious cycle of violence, particularly in impoverished minority neighborhoods. It provides an excuse for the "Off The Pigs" crowd to l**t, r**t, and sometimes k**l cops just because they are cops. This is turn, provides an excuse for certain officers to act like pigs and abuse their powers, particularly if they harbor r****t views. Moreover, it creates an environment of fear even among well meaning officers, causing them to become more trigger happy at times

Isn’t it awesome ?
It all circles right back into our plans no matter how you slice it.

As far as conspiracies Mutton? I didn’t create them or write about them but I do study the unexplained data from them that you nor anyone else can settle, yet you mimick the label your usual Suspects invented to disqualify what we expose...

Exposing bulls**t is the name of the game and I’m Calling Bulls**t Flat OUT !
Most Cops are of a certain psychological makeup that fall into a few categories, you can explore that on your own time.
Most Cops have a problematic attitude when challenged
Most Cops are capable of all the dirty tricks to protect and cover each other for the blue line at all costs.
It’s their training, it’s their Clique’, it’s their Wolfpack ideology mostly.

So don’t anyone come here and insult my intelligence with ‘just a few cops’

This is amplified worse in the Federalists Brotherhood of the FBI, CIA and other rogue Unconstitutional agencies that should never have been created either !

What a bunch of CRAP !

My sister was engaged to a cop back in 1978, but it didn't work out. I used to tease her about "bringing home the bacon"
